Woodsong Garrard 301, Artisan Fidelity 301, Shindo 301, SME 301, or etc.?
Heavy stuff on a 301 are a main issue.Starting with a heavy platter. I will stay with Woodsong’s version of an appropriate platter. Not the original but not very heavy either. Think it is about 6 lbs. Think the slate and iron plinths are questiona...
Blown away by a vinyl version of a CD?
Thanks for the post Chuck. And for reminding me about Breaking Silence-for sure one of my favs on CD. Acoustic Sounds has it for $35 on 200g vinyl.I kind of hope for others mentioning similar experiences with other CDs.
Impressions of AGD the Audion MKII Mono Amps
As a delighted Audions owner, I am very pleased to see yet another thread extolling the virtues of AGD. All I can add is that the listening experience is different than any IME. As a formerly dedicated SET guy, I will never go back. All the benefit...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what?
rh67Would you agree that the actual GANfet used in AGD amps is proprietary? The comparison has been made to Nelson Pass acquiring all available SITs. Although Nelson does not hold the patent on SITs as does Alberto on the AGD’s GANfet. One reason I...
How do you know what your weakest link is?
The Modwright 9.0 is perhaps the best bang for the buck.Check it out…For sure, the source is the main link in a system.I heard a million dollar system trashed by a poor CD player!Wanted to run out of the room screaming.
warmest speaker cables you've heard?
If you want the best SCs available, the Silversmith Fideliums.Believe a 4’ pair are $795.I replaced $6K cables that are now junk relatively. Warm, I guess so. But if you want to hear everything the SR1as are capable, 30 day trial. You will not ret...
Lousy IEC Connections
Two issues with my pretty heavy Shunyata PCs. 1. They can pull up lighter components.2. The wall connection needs a cable riser to keep it from pulling out.
Woodsong Garrard 301, Artisan Fidelity 301, Shindo 301, SME 301, or etc.?
Chris Harban advised me not to switch to a much heavier platter. That the 301 motor was not designed to move that much weight.Although it does seem like a heavier platter would add thrust and a stronger tone. And the available heavy copper or brass...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what?
I am very sorry to see that this tread has devolved into petty personal. Please bring it back to the subject.Interesting that one of the last CL D threads included many good comments about the Legacy amp. Believe rh67 was going to Legacy to auditi...
Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what?
I am off the merry-go-round for my entire current system.Woodsong Garrard 301 TT, Triplanar arm, Lyra Atlas SL cart, Atma-Sphere MP-1 preamp, AGD Audion amps, Tetra 606 speakers, Silversmith Fidelium speaker cables, Shunyata Triton/Typhon power, S...
What is the #1 equipment want currently on your HiFi horizon???
Mullard NOS military 12AT7s for my preamp.Think I am otherwise off the merry-go-round!
Solid State pre amp / tube amp
In general, a tube preamp supplies a desired smooth and musical SQ. And, in general, a SS preamp supplies a ultra detailed but edgy SQ. And, in general, a tube pre adds some of that smooth and musical SQ to a colder SS amp. However, my SS amp alre...
Woodsong Garrard 301, Artisan Fidelity 301, Shindo 301, SME 301, or etc.?
Chris at Woodsong does a complete rebuild including new platter. In addition to highly developed plinths. Mine was $11K. Artisan Fidelity seems to go to a higher, but not necessarily better, level. They are a few thousand more but Chris says that th...
Class D for a Tube Lover
I am joyfully runnings my AGD Audions with an Atma-Sphere MP-1.Dead silent and superb phono stage. Think it is, perhaps, the best full function preamp available. Of its 18 tubes, 8 are for the phono stage.
After 50 years, I have finally found my destination amps... AGD Audions!
Can’t afford the Gran Vivaces but am pretty sure that the SQ of the Audions is very similar to the upper models. Think they are beyond merely the “sweet spot” in the AGD line. Think the Audions are overachievers. The Vivaces should sound fuller so...
