Amarra HiFi and 24/96 FLAC Files - Heads Up
OK, so I converted the FLAC files to AIFF using Amarra HiFi, they play fine now. I also downloaded the trial version of Audirvarna Plus, so I could play the FLAC files directly without using iTunes. Comparing the regular CD version of Norah Jones ...
Amarra HiFi and 24/96 FLAC Files - Heads Up
The previous poster is correct, Amarra HiFi only works with iTunes, which does not support FLAC. According to Amarra I need to convert my FLAC files to AIFF and load them into iTunes. Apparently they will then play at full HD resolution, in my cas...
Amarra HiFi and 24/96 FLAC Files - Heads Up
I am working with Amarra to resolve this problem, they are very helpful people. It would appear Amarra HiFi will indeed handle up to 192 kHz files. However, they need to be loaded into iTunes to play. This is my problem, loading a HD FLAC file int...
Amarra HiFi and 24/96 FLAC Files - Heads Up
Yes, it is possible to convert 24/96 FLAC files to AIFF using Amarra HiFi. However, according to Amarra, when this is done they get down-converted to 16/44.1. This rather defeats my new found interested in HD audio. Thanks for the tip on Foobar2000...
Amarra HiFi & HD Tracks
Thanks for your help Gocubs999. I am using a MF V-Link 24/96 USB to SPDIF conversion onto a Krell HTS 7.1. The Krell DAC will handle up to 24/96 files without problem.
What's your favorite Apple-based music program?
I thought, if one uses Amarra HiFI with iTunes it is necessary too first convert HD FLAC files (24/96 and above) to AIFF? If this is done, the files are down coverted to 16/44.1 (or 16/48?) so they can play on iTunes? Is this correct?
what speakers would you choose for a hometheater?
FWIW; I have a N801, HTM1, N805 and ASW850 B&W setup driven by a Krell KSA-250 (L & R) and two Pioneer Elite M-91 (center and surround). Sounds perfect to me. In fact, my wife and I have just watched/listened to Adele live at the Royal Alb...
MacBook Air For HD Audio
Hifinutt604,Thanks for your comments. Agree; I will need a USB to SPDIF converter. I was thinking of using the MF V-Link 96 (or 192). I will have a look at the Audiophilleo2 as an option.

So Many Apogees for sale, and so few takers
Many years ago (20?) I remember hearing a pair of Apogee Divas, powered by two Krell KSA-250 amps, at a HiFi show in London. To this day, I still think these are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard. One day I plan to buy a restored pair o...

Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
My like new, refurbished Krell KSA250. Sounds about as good as it gets to me. Also, it just looks cool knowing you have a massive power amplifier that will drive any known speaker load on the planet. Overloading this monster is just about inconcei...
