My experience after lost of 20k$ My experience with computer audio is very different to yours. I have a $20k analog/digital system and the results via TT and computer audio are very good IMHO. I am extremely happy with this system and have no plans to upgrade, even though the spe...
What do people place on their platter for dust protection I use a Michell Engineering GyroDec (full plinth version, not the SE) and always keep the lid closed when not in use or playing an LP. I have no problems with dust accumulation on the platter. I just dust the lid about once a month.
Do Macs Play FLAC? I can play FLAC files on my MacBook Air. Files are played via Audirvana Plus through the USB port into a McIntosh C50 for D/A conversion. Works perfectly for me, very happy with the results. See my previous post on this subject.
New Look for Audiogon hard to work with Agree, the text list was much easier to read. Can we have the old format back, please!
CDs Vs LPs Sold my TT and vinyl record collection 34 years ago and went full into CDs. Very happy at the time, then in 2017 I decided it was time to get back into vinyl (Michell GyroDec, SME IV, Clearaudio Maestro Ebony V2, McIntosh C50, McIntosh MC275 mk VI...

Dire Straits : what is your favorite pressing? Heard a test pressing of the MFSL 45rpm Love Over Gold album at this years Axpona show. Opinions Please - Which Turntable Rack is Better I have a Core Audio plyKraft 3L rack that holds my TT (Michell GyroDec/SME IV, Clearaudio Maestro V2 Ebony). Works perfectly for me, the turntable is acoustically completely isolated. You can jump up and down (some call it dancing) right next to t...
Thoughts on the most difficult instruments for speakers to reproduce? Piano for me. I have heard very expensive $0.5 million systems sound perfect, see: https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/2c-hifi-epiphany-worlds-best-system. Until you play a grand piano. No speaker IMHO will reproduce grand piano lifelike. Some ...
2018 Axpona Eikon System I agree with lalitk, the Avantgarde Trio XD plus Basshorn system sounded and looked stunning. Probably the best sound at the show? $150k or thereabouts just for the speakers! To say nothing of the incredible size of this system, wish I had a liste...
UK to US step up/down voltage converter This is a good site for step up/down transformers:http://www.eastwestusastore.com/product-voltage+transformers-543-577.htmlSee my previous post on this subject. You need to make sure the DAC is not restricted to 50Hz only, don't think it is.
SME Tonearms of Canada - Alfred and Company that sell new and refurbish SME Purchased an SME IV from them last year. A friend of mine had his SME 3009 S2 refurbished there. In both cases everything went smoothly, Alfred is a nice guy to deal with; highly recommended.
Michell Engineering TT users; Orbe or Gyro why Excellent over all of the rest? I have an SME IV on my Michell GyroDec, works perfectly for me. |
