Integrated Tube Amp Demo Follow-up
Thanks for your report. I am interested in a tube integrated and have considered Octave and Raven.
Compatibility between preamp and amps
Yes, the gain provided by a preamp is one thing, and often more than needed. How the gain is distributed via the volume control is another.
Compatibility between preamp and amps
Yea, a 0.85V sensitivity 30dB amplifier is a candidate for a passive pre. Not to say that I prefer that route. I am currently using a active tube line stage preamp that has variable gain output with a SS amplifier. My take is that many digital bas...

Compatibility between preamp and amps
With digital sources that output at higher voltages than most analog ones the 11 dB gain in the pre may be beneficial. You have 41dB of gain total which should  be fine. One thing I question is the amps sensitivity. At 0.85 volts, it is very sensi...
Tube Preamp to go with Bryston SST2 amp and Magnepan 1.7i speakers
To follow up, I have his Special 6SN7 preamp. The latest version of the Special runs $3250. The one I aforementioned can be made to accommodate the 6SN7 tube as well I believe.

If interested in a tube preamp check out Aric Audio. Has a preamp which he can modify to buyers wishes. It starts at $1650 I believe. there is a thread on it here.
A Tribute to the Sequerra MET 7
I, to this day regret selling mine. A very dynamic speaker for it's size.
Is speaker design art or science?
In part, the science is knowing what to do, the art is the ability to get it done.

Are you willing to go with a tube preamp? Many use a tube pre with a SS amplifier. I do and enjoy what tubes provide regarding air and soundstage. Aric Audio makes some great tube preamps.
Move From AVR to Integrated?
Based on your requirements and the Outlaw's features I believe it to be a great option for you.
Floor-standing vs Book-shelf from upper line up?
+1 chuckjones. I would add that your 14'x13' room will augment low bass.
Move From AVR to Integrated?
I am a little late getting back. I recommended an integrated amplifier due primarily to budget. Many have the features you desire and at your budget will provide a sonic quality equal to or better than separates.  I am just not convinced that the ...
Move From AVR to Integrated?
The Outlaw 2160 is a great option. Full function.Audio Advisor has the NuPrime IDA-8 demo for ~$850. Several digital inputs, single analog.
Move From AVR to Integrated?
I would stick to a integrated amplifier with sub out. Purchase a budget outboard streamer which could be upgraded later.
