Can one have too many tube components in a system?
I should add that I have a system with tube DAC tube pre, and tube amp. My speakers are 91dB, not overly sensitive.
Can one have too many tube components in a system?
With recognition that I am not the most experienced with the proposed scenario, I have come to learn that having compatible gain across all components in the system is always a concern and I would agree that this can be even more critical with tub...
Raven Audio and Beyond...
You have nice speakers. They do best with more power than the Raven delivers. I know the 14s are an easier drive than the 12s were but still they are voice with solid state. They are surly capable of responding to an amp upgrade. If you are lookin...
Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 Vs PSB Alpha P5
@milpai  Yes use of a more traditional integrated open up possibilities, speaker wise and opportunities for a higher wattage integrated. Problem with stand mounts is that many of the best ones at reasonable prices do drop below 4ohms in the bass r...
Maggie 1.7i vs 1.7 (what was changed??)
@jjss49 Thanks for your response. Yea, I was thinking the little LRS would be the one to try for my room. The price is very reasonable, I will be placing a system in the living room. Should I get a pair they might end up there. Would likely have a...
Considering a Raven Audio Blackhawk Integrated for Tannoy Sterlings
@jjss49 True about sonic flavors. The Pass seemed to have a more dynamic attack while the Aric has a more fleshed out finish, note for note. Both provide great sound staging when available on the recording. The Aric seems somewhat warmer. Honestly...
Considering a Raven Audio Blackhawk Integrated for Tannoy Sterlings
Seeing my post has resurfaced I feel I should update. I purchased the XA25 last May however really haven't given it it's due regarding playing time. Been building a second house and  not spent much time with the XA25. In November I purchased an al...
Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2 Vs PSB Alpha P5
There are many very pleasing standmount speakers at or under that budget. Beyond the fact that the speakers mentioned sound quite different, one needs to consider the power requirements of the speaker and the room size.  I am thinking the Elac may...
Maggie 1.7i vs 1.7 (what was changed??)
@jjss49 I have always wanted to try Maggies. My room size is limiting however in the new room  I might try the small maggies (forget model) for near field listening. Wonder if the XA25 would have enough power for them. Getting very close to moving...
Would my system benefit from cable upgrades?
I am one that has a hard time justifying the expenditure of more than 10% of the cost of 2 components on the cables connecting them.  It is more about the synergy between cables with the components than the price of the cables.  What is it about ...
Would my system benefit from cable upgrades?
+1 riley and soix.  Research options for room treatment. Regarding cable upgrade I would focus toward the interconnects starting between sources and amplifier. Stick with quality copper. Which audioquest speaker cables are you using?
Speaker shootout question -- do you position the same or differently, depending?
So true, one need to have considered all aspects of the room when purchasing equipment. Selection of room drives selection of speakers, which drive selection of amplification,  .....
Seeking advice for speakers for my Family Room
Seek speakers that are on the warm side, somewhat rolled off on the upper octave. Absorption panels need not be expensive. One can even have pictures imprinted on canvas to use as covering over self made panels. Look up ATS Acoustics for DIY mate...
Maggie 1.7i vs 1.7 (what was changed??)
@jjss49 Which of your amplifiers are you using to drive the 1.7is?
China built tube amps
@falconquest The dealer you spoke with seems to me one I would not wish to deal with. I agree with those saying country of origin need not be the only criterion for product selection. I would want US based service facility for non domestic product...
