What are your top three live concerts of all time? Three rock concerts that come to mind: Led Zepplin, 1969 Jacksonville FL Jethro Tull, 1972, New Orleans Rolling Stones, 1978 Lexington KY
What's your picks What amplifier are you using?
Fritz Speakers I purchased my Carbon 7s last year. John provides a 30 day trial with right to return if dissatisfied He knew I was busy moving into a new home told me that I need not be worried about the 30 days. I got back to him after a few days and responded...
Fritz Speakers Based on what @atmasphere and @jjss49 stated, I believe I will start with a single sub for use with both my Carbon 7 and LSR+ speakers. Likely purchase the small REL with 8" driver. Run speakers full range with CO set around 50hz for both speakers.
Fritz Speakers @j_andrews I also run the Fritz without subs. Plenty of bass for my bedroom sized room. I must say I also considered the use of an active crossover for use with the LRS+ however rethinking that. The cost of a quality one might be better spent els...
I was happy with my system for 30 years; now I need a new amp...and more? @drbeechwood In terms of power to drive I believe the distance from the speakers to be more important than room size. In addition I think getting the most from a system is easier when the system occupies a dedicated smaller space within a larger r...
Fritz Speakers +1 @jaudio1 I also own the Carbon and 7 SEmk2s. Also happen to own the LRS+ speakers. The Fritz do not require anything near the power (current) required by the LRS+. A 20wpc tube amp works well.
Jazz like this? Suggestions @painter24 Thanks for the thread!
I was happy with my system for 30 years; now I need a new amp...and more? I agree with your consideration of an integrated amplifier. There are many options with a $1500 budget. The Rogue Sphinx V3 has a good phonostage and headphone amplifier. A tube based preamp coupled to a class D amplifier having 100wpc into 8ohms...
Thinking of Magnepan ... finally! I am interested in the active crossover idea. Keep my XA25 free from driving the lower base. Maybe I will check out that First Watt - B4 DIY kit.
Another "Best" amplifier Question. Audio Advisor has an open box Sphinx V3 on sale now.
Help me upgrade my beginner system! As a start I will provide few thoughts for consideration that may help I and others provide helpful input. From my perspective one problem you have is that the system you own seems very well balanced. Thus the 'where to start' thinking is underst...
Another "Best" amplifier Question. I hit the post button too soon. The Music Fidelity M5si also has a phonostage and USB DAC. 180wpc into 8 ohms. Audio Advisor caries it and has a silver one discounted as open box. I am not familiar with the Yamaha or Marantz units you are cons...
Another "Best" amplifier Question. At your price point the best option would be an integrated amplifier. The Music Fidelity M5si mentioned by russ69 would be one choice. Another would be the Rogue Sphinx V3 which delivers 100wpc into 8ohms and 200wpc into 40hms and has a good P...
Sensitivity 86 v 90 The reason is that the impedance spectrum across the frequency range of the new speakers represents an easier load to your tube amplifier in addition to the fact that the true sensitivity is only 1dB difference, as per @atmasphere. |
