Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @wharfy I read your posts with interest. I use all tubes (Rogue) but for the Musetec DAC. I am surprised by your comment that age brings about sensitivity to higher frequencies, as I’ve always thought the opposite. In any event, some tube rollin...
Capital Audiofest, save thyself! It's been a while since I was at a show. Then I would bring some tracks cut on a recordable CD and got them played when things were slow. In what digital form do people bring their own music to play these days? Will tracks on a flash drive do?
What DAC upgrade made you say “DAMN, that sounds SO MUCH better than my last DAC”? @spitzfish (if there really is a spitzfish who has come here, it seems, only to do a job on the LKS DAC)I am the OP on the original LKS DAC thread. Of the unmodified LKS DAC Ric Shultz wrote in the Audio Asylum, "Also the LKS has fully discrete ...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @verdantaudio @jjss49 You are quite right to speak if the importance of imaging. I just picked up on what verdantaudio had written about accuracy to the sound of a piano, to wit, a piano should sound like a piano, Better still, a particular pian...
DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @verdantaudio I agree with @dbb in that accuracy to the sound of real instruments is essential for an audio component to be recommendable. You have written, "I had an interesting conversation last night on the topic of 'accuracy' with a gentleman w...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @metaldetektor Actually his latest review, of a Gustard, was done thanks to a loan from a Chinese retailer. For a Musetec, perhaps he can contact Musetec's European distributer in Cologne. Though with his viewership and subscriber numbers he may...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @ja_kub_sz Welcome to the club. Glad that you’re enjoying the DAC. Your initial response was similar to my own. I hesitated to say exactly why I liked my new DAC. It was just . . . everything! A very similar dropping jaw. Found it hard to believe ...
For SACD fans only Use your Oppo to rip your SACDs. It's very easy. Then feed them into any good DAC. You can easily beat the one in the Oppo. That's how you get the best sound out of them.
Why do my bass drivers shake violently listening to vinyl You likely have a mismatch between cartridge compliance and cartridge/arm mass. Do a search.
KT88 in Rogue ST-100 amplifier What did you swap the 12au7 and 12ax7 tubes to? What changes did you hear? Thanks.
Review: Holo May (L2) DAC and the Musetec Audio (LKS Audio) MH-DA005 DAC Compaired @sruffleAs to how the Musetec would fare being fed upsampling by HQPlayer, you might look at the experience with the LKS MH-DA004 DAC made by the same company. From the ESS chips through the analog stage the basic design is similar. However the ...
Bernard Haitink, R.I.P. Some of the best, and best sounding, Shostakovich by Haitink was recorded by the London Philharmonic. I am thinking specifically of Symphony 15 which is a demo quality recording. The Ashkenazy Rachmaninov First symphony at the Concertgebouw is anot...
Classical Music for Aficionados @skyscraper Since you say "pressing" I assume you are looking for vinyl. Two that I have enjoyed are Solti/Chicago on London/Decca and Davis/Concertgebouw on Philips. These are true analog recordings. Both are fine performances with great, but ver...
Bernard Haitink, R.I.P. It is interesting to me that in the early vinyl days the Philips Haitink Concertgebouw recordings were often considered dull. But as analog equipment became more sophisticated (somewhat after the analog golden age) they started sounding better an...
Review: Holo May (L2) DAC and the Musetec Audio (LKS Audio) MH-DA005 DAC Compaired In a way this thread has become one of the more interesting as it gets to the heart of what different listeners want in a sound product. I believe that stretches well beyond DACs to all manner of audio equipment. I remember similar discussions in... |
