Center Channel Dialogue
@elliottbnewcombjr - Your AVR can take 5.1 and make it 4.1 without an issue just like it can take a 5.1 and make it stereo. I have always had a 4.1 setup. You simply have to make sure that the AVR is setup to not have a center channel.
Center Channel Dialogue
@elliottbnewcombjr - If the AVR has an auto setup with a microphone you just disconnect the center channel and run the setup.  It won't hear a center channel and will simply eliminate it from the processing and as a result split the signal into th...
Center Channel Dialogue
Have you tried eliminating the center channel all together and allowing the processor to ghost it back in?  I know my home theater setup is anything but idea, but I run a 4.1 setup and certainly have never had any issues with understanding dialogu...
Best way to A/B two different streamers
@ghdprentice - I tend to lean towards this approach. OP - You should have a sonic memory for the computer, so listen to the new streamer for a few days or weeks and see if you feel that something’s different.  Then go back and verify. If you can’...
Just Getting Back Into Audio and Need Help
I think "need" is almost never a factor.  Your challenge is to put together a system that you prefer over your past memories.  It sounds like one of your goals is to minimize the pieces of equipment. If you can find an integrated with a built in ...
Bluesound Node 2I Power Supply Update
@marco1 - I reached out to customer support and it sounds like there's been some variation in what cables they have been providing.  I got two cables and I think three of the connectors had the same slightly smaller size that matches the power sup...
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
@grh1958 - Safe to assume that your post isn't representative of the order that you tried things?  You went through the official process of sending Vinshine a picture of your chip and then attempted to follow the instructions upon their reply with...
Bluesound Node 2I Power Supply Update
I have received the LHY power supply bundle and done the installation.  I didn't get a night and day difference, but do think that it changed things for the better.  For anyone else that does this, the install went smoothly.  The point of confusio...
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
I did a little listening today comparing the various modes on my Ares II and I think I still prefer the OS Slow filter.  The OS Fast filter felt like something had been lost and the NOS seemed to have a bit more bloom which sounds good but I misse...
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
@mksun - Do you have any explanation for how an FPGA update could benefit from a break-in?   I thought something had finally identified that could be agreed up on that break-in wasn't a factor for, but you're not alone. An FPGA update doesn't ch...
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
@dskusa - "According to Vinshine, it is recommended to perform a burn in due to the new logic in the FPGA." Can you provide a source for this?  I was so hopeful that I'd finally found something that audiophiles could agree didn't benefit from a b...
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
I'm part of a Denafrips group on FB and the Pontus updates seem to be getting a much higher percentage of mixed reviews after the firmware update than the Ares II. I'm now really curious to see how things play out as the upgrade is released to ea...
Bluesound Node 2I Power Supply Update
For an update, I sold my old DAC and have reinvested the funds into the LHY power supply upgrade including the linear power supply.  As a Denafrips DAC owner I've really appreciated the customer service approach that Alvin Chee has provided as par...
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
@goex54 - I had a few pops and clicks prior to the firmware upgrade.  Not enough to bother me, but enough to know what it was from my online reading.  Post firmware upgrade, I can't say that I've had any but have not spent a lot of time listening.
Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
@erik_squires - I'll be curious to see if your tip resolves the issue.  I have not had a lot of time to listen since the firmware upgrade, but have not yet had the things described @geox54 happen.  I'm using a Bluesound Node 2i with the volume fix...
