Cartridge/arm matching
The Dynavector 10X5 would be a great fit on the RB250. You wont miss the shelter. IMHO.
Who do you credit for your love of mucic?
My Father and 3 older brothers (classical, Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Tim Weisberg, ect) plus I grew up in the seventies and eighties when that (listening to stereo or radio) was 1 of the major forms of entertainment. I always was around ...
Mike Porcaro, Toto Bassist Dies from ALS
OMG NOOOOOOOOOO! So sorry to hear this. I love Toto. They provided music for some of the best memories of my younger days. RIP.
Ortofon 2MBronze; Quintet Red; Vivo Red???
Its NOT that the Dynavector is RIGHT for me!!! Many experts with expensive and inexpensive rigs all agree the Dynavector 10x5 is a excellent combo especially for $450. AND thank you Sunny for making my other point clearer that the Denon 103r is no...
Room treatment
...I would not hang fiberglass insulation in my listing room. You can really screw up the liveliness of the sound with these products...I use very little room damping for this reason.
esoteric products
"Esoteric accounted for only 1.9% of the audio division of TEAC!!This is because of there ESOTERIC prices!!! Pun intended.P.S. I still drool over a Neo Verdes transport though.
Parasound halo JC2 what a joke
This is why I buy gear that you don't have to ever send anywhere, McIntosh , Dynaudio, REGA, ect...
Ortofon 2MBronze; Quintet Red; Vivo Red???
"There really is no such thing as a "right" cartridge for any table or arm"I totally disagree. As much as there are WRONG cartridges for a given tone arm, their are also RIGHT cartridges. And that's what I was recommending, a right one.
Ortofon 2MBronze; Quintet Red; Vivo Red???
The RIGHT cartridge for the P3/24 with the RB301 tone arm is the Dynavector 10X5 ($450). This is a match made in heaven. Through much trial and error I have found this to be a awesome match. The Dynavector is a high output MC (2.5mv) and will work...
Is dedicated PreAmp with Oppo 105 needed?
If you want to inject real tonal beauty, great dynamics and weight into your system give this pre amp a try. It is a tube based preamp. ModWright SWL 9.0 SE with tube power supply, they are around $1500 used.
Pre-amp recommendation
I would highly recommend using a tube based preamp because the esoteric can sound very "digital". If you look at tube preamps take your time and listen to at least 3 before you choose. It makes or breaks the whole system and is a key piece to get ...
Rock and roll speakers?
Some classic JBL Century 100's would fit the bill. Or some vintage Cerwin Vegas!! LOL
Will my Rega Apollo be a good transport?
Yes the Apollo is a good transport. I would look into any DAC that uses either a Burr Brown or ESS Saber DAC chipset. This will give you a warmer and more analog like sound.
Best sounding MC phono box at $250 or less??
The Nagaoka MP200 is a very good cartridge for Jazz and vocals. It has a lush presentation and is one of the more detailed MM's I have heard. I would not call it a rugged all around great tracker (like a 103R) it is a more delicate cartridge. I bo...
Best sounding MC phono box at $250 or less??
The Denon 103R is NOT a good match with the RB301 tonearm. I would recommend staying away from this combo as it is not going to sound good. A medium compliance cartridge would work much better like a Nagaoka MP200 or a Dynavector 10X5 (match made ...
