Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds I think it's a great album. It sounds good on my system. It's a very live sound with a lot of delays and reverb so it's not a "clean" sound but it's got great energy.
Bass Traps Bass traps are called that because they absorb some low frequency waves compared to thinner panels but below 80hz, not that much. So they are absorbing everything above including mids and highs. That makes the bass sound more prominent and even. M...
Claude #2 I somehow missed the Claude 1 discussion but I've recently been using AI for audio questions with great success. I always assign the AI a certain expertise and make it recheck facts and sources. Sometimes it's like a lazy child you have to encoura...
Feedback on Costco & Amazon sound absorption panels from folks who have purchased them. All good suggestions. I bought wood, insulation, and fabric, then hired a handyman to build and hang the panels.
I replaced the volume pot on my tube preamplifier. Yeah, it's a $16 pot available everywhere, probably on par with the 27. But the RK50 is about 100x the price, $1500 or so. So there's another reason for an upgrade. Oh well.
I replaced the volume pot on my tube preamplifier. @mulveling I was going by the label on top that shows 50KA X 2 I this to indicate some stereo version of the RK50 but I may be completely mistaken. One can hope.
Bass management--high/low pass filtering Marchand Electronics makes a variety of high pass filters and crossovers designed to limit the low frequencies going to the mains. While my mains are very capable down to 40hz, my room acoustics favor the low frequencies near the floor rather than...
I replaced the volume pot on my tube preamplifier. After reading this post, i checked the motorized volume pot on my LTA MZ2 and it appears to be the RK50A. And it's well under $10k.
Looking for new speaker cables That's the way I describe my Cardas Clear Sky x4. They add body without losing high end clarity and sparkle.
Digital Room Correction vs Room Treatments Room treatment is as much about reverb time (Rt) as frequency variations, particularly in frequencies above 100hz. You don't want sound bouncing around your room. Below 100 is a different story. EQ can help there. Diffusion and absorption can he...
Innuos 3.3 with Quboz Connect just dropped. @buellrider97 Sense doesn't show anything on my Pixel when it's playing unless I open the app. Quboz Connect shows what's playing with album art on my lock screen.
We Need To Talk About Ones And Zeroes Here's Gemini's explanation of how proprietary software can affect streamer output. It's a little more complicated than 1s and 0s. Here is a more technically detailed explanation of how proprietary software in digital streamers can influence the...
Why most $3000 and lower DAC’s sound almost identical Interesting theory. I've found consulting with a good AI agent is a useful way of answering questions like this. I start by telling the AI that's it's a professor of electrical engineering and focus on the special questions with follow up for bett...
Are streamers digitally enhanced? @sudnh I can assure you that both my friend and I have forgotten more about audio during our 40 year careers than you will ever know. But I appreciate you informing me that better components result in better sound. That’s apparently the one thin...
Are streamers digitally enhanced? To put a coda on this discussion, I spent an hour with Gemini as an EE professor, explaining the fine points of digital streamer design. It confirmed the primary of clock and PSU, but also mentioned another variable. FLAC is a lossless but still... |
