New Giant Television
Greg,The entry level 73" Mitsu is available under $1200 (from Dell - see my post above). I agree that this isn't the very best image quality available, but it's actually pretty good. And, 73 diagonal inches of image does make an impact.I use it ev...
Pls recommend a tupe pre under 2500 for my system.
I have an Joule LA-100 and it's great. IMHO, a better choice for the OP's needs than any of the recent ARC preamps that I've heard. However, I'd try to go even further down the "tubey" road to get the result he's seeking. I suspect that an older C...
MiniMonitor 33lbs w/realistic vocals,not bright.
The Ref 3a di Capo is a slightly larger box, but tonally it barks right up the tree you describe. OTOH, while I happen to like the Tablette quite a bit, I wouldn't put it in the more "polite" (Shadorne's apt word) tonal space you seem to seek.Marty
What music do you want to play really loud?
We need a new thread:"What's your favorite song called "Drive".
New Giant Television
I bought the 73" Mitsu DLP (73c10, IIRC) a few months back. It is a very big television that is pretty reasonable in cost. Dell sells it for +/- $1200. The set has good+ image quality and a lot of sq inches in an efficient cabinet, although it's a...

I own an LS-25 and agree that it doesn't have a trace of "tube warmth". That said, it doesn't have any SS "edge" either. This particular piece might be the most extreme ARC pre in that regard, but I still wouldn't call it SS sounding. Just "pretty...

"Drive" by Todd Rundgren....couldn't resist.
Pls recommend a tupe pre under 2500 for my system.
I use the same speakers with ARC gear, but I have also used the Bel Canto integrated (briefly) with my Ohms. I'm not so sure that a tube pre will get you all the way to where you want to be. Both Bel Canto and the Ohms strike me as pretty neutral ...
Bublé's Louisville Concert 6/4/11
A friend of mine works with the Bubbler (Reprise Records), so I've seen him perform twice. He is -IMHO- a solid, if unremarkable, singer. He is also -IMHO- a terrific entertainer.I was actually favorably surprised by the SQ at both shows - particu...
Name your favorite sax solo.
Larry (and Orpheus),Thanks for the commentary. At the time of my post, I was asking whether the comment Larry made re: "Can't Get Started" evoking Charlie Parker was based on any specific Parker solo(or solos) that he had in mind when you made the...
Onkyo and Wadia Connections
You might try moving the Wadia's cable to coax 1 on the Onkyo and choosing the receiver input that defaults to coax 1. Just standard troubleshooting practice to see if the problem is unique to the input that you've chosen. The next step is to choos...
Best CD I've heard so far 2011.........
Okay,Okay, I spun up Sarah J for the first time today, on the recommendation of half of A'gon's members. Is she the unholy offspring of Alison Krauss and Suzanne Vega? Or is there another comp that works better to describe her style?I definitely n...
