Point to Point Wiring
correct, perhaps, but that does not make me 'right', I don't mean to criticize, take care, MM
Point to Point Wiring
do you mean, 'exacerbates', probably, but I like your spelling better!
Point to Point Wiring
Cary SLP 98 is also point to point wired.
Talon Ravens vs. JM Lab Mezzo Utopias??? comment
continue to remember some experimentation done with speakers lately: in the last few years listened to or owned Soliloquy 5.3 (awful!), Jamo, and Merlin VSM-SE (not bad), and Totem Mites - great little monitor. Talon is no doubt the best of the lot.
Talon Ravens vs. JM Lab Mezzo Utopias??? comment
Forgot a little experience also lately with Reference 3A monitors, Silverline, Ruark, and a Danish (I believe) named speaker whose name escapes me at the moment. Again -the Talon products just offer a much more believable sound. Drama, scale: more...
Talon Ravens vs. JM Lab Mezzo Utopias??? comment
Am not familiar with the JM products but I have owned or experience with the Peregrines, Peregrine X, Khorus, Khorus X mk II, Raven 2002 with the new X-over, ProAc 2.5, Wharfedale EVO 10 monitors, Soliloquy 6.2's - all in the last 3 years. What a ...
Alchemist P8 amp & pre
Actually ended up with an Alchemist Product 8 stereo amplifier. Via some trade-in/swap/finagling I gave up some Electrocompaniet amps and have now the Product 8. 150 watts are plenty to drive just about anything. Can't find anything to complain of...
The Smallest amp/speaker combination?
the totem mites are excellent!
Nottingham Interspace TT/Arm vs Used Linn Lp12
I just bought a Spacedeck and Space arm. End of story. Look no further! You name it, it excels at music presentation and retrieval. Musciality, bass, detail, smoothness, lush, rich. Delicious. MM
Turntable Advice
I just bought a Nottingham Spacedeck and I am stunned. Extreme musicality, detail, resolution, bass response - everything is excellent. I put the Space arm on it and this thing is just unbelievable. Simple is better and these things are simple squ...
Cary SLP-98 vs. other high end preamps--C-J, etc.
Steveaudio: I understand your question about the SLP 98 phono stage - just how good is it? I own one, but unfortunately don't have anything to compare it to. I have been questioning how good it is to people whose opinion I value, but not enough pe...
Rogue Magnum 99 vs Cary SLP-94 Preamp
Having spoken with the local dealer and having owned several Cary products, if you are buying used, go for the 94 or 98, don't stop to save a few bucks and buy the lesser model. Don't think major improvements have been made to the 2002 model, chec...
Rogue Magnum 99 vs Cary SLP-94 Preamp
The Cary is a great product and a great value. Notice, it has been changed very little throughout its existence which would suggest that they got it 'right' the first time. Nothing worse than an 'improvement' every year or two which leaves you thi...
Cary SLP-98 vs. other high end preamps--C-J, etc.
I own a Cary SLP 98 with phono and have never been dissatisfied. It is one component that has not been back in the box to re-sell in my upgrade frenzy. A couple units you should look into before making a choice: First Sound tube pre-amps made in R...
