Please help - Impotence problem
Amps creating such problem for sure. They simply have a high distortion levels at low volumes just like pro-gear.The two Counterpoint amps had their input stage disconnected and directly fed onto the driving stage so there is nothing realy to mod i...
Rock Music: 1951-1976 vs. 1977-2003
Rock has certainly grown to more professional levels if we measure v.s....Look-up Jethro Tull throughout their career: They always grow and make a progress towards sophistication techniques and were becoming more and more interesting with every ne...
NAD C270
First,do not break-up mid-fi and hi-fi.Second,do not break-up Stereophile class B or class A or whatever.Third, Either way is OK but both at the same time is better.Fourth,I don't think you'll be able to bi-amp with C270 so I'd suggest replacing C...
Transports and Technology
Transport is important almost as cartrige in turntable. Transports are all inexpencive by definition and may be "sleeping" in cheap CD-players. It is known that many CD-ROMs with price bellow $50 have excellent transports. It is also known that fa...
What pre amp matches the McCormack DNA 0.5
TLC and AudioSynthesis come with remote control. Placette has it optional and extra $$.Passive is better than tubes and ss together IMO if possible and in your case you won't need any active one.
Do I need a DAC for my Marantz SA14
Not neccessarily upsampling.Upsampling only complicates the overall proccessing and increases the digital noise indeed. A good quality DAC may do the trick but you can get quite good one-box player for the descent price such as Cambridge D500SE de...
Ok this will be a good thread.
Le'me put it straight! IMHO the author somehow propheted that in this thread there will be two members as Marco and Mark.:-)
hifi as investment?
Chateu Palmer is an investment? You've got to be kidding! Not for me indeed that literally already "dryed" the whole antique 50y.o. bar with ancient rums, whiskeys, wines and liquers my sister-in-law got from her deceased father-in-law in matter o...
hifi as investment?
When I was 4 or 5 I curiousely dismembered a gromophone that was probably bought by mom of my grandma. It realy was functioning properly. Now I realize that that piece might've had an appreciation nowdays. What a fool was I!
Audio Experience Phono
I often spot these units on ebay auctions. It has a good parts and seems to be a good design. The seller/manufacturer(from oriental Asia?) is even providing a warranty. It's certainly not a large manufacturer and he's realy more like a hobbyist so...
TT set up in the Bay Area
Your cartridge is the main SSSSSS reason. For nearly the same price you should look for Dynavector 10x4 or Goldring Eroica.Do learn to set up TT yourself since none except you can listen to it the right way.
What pre amp matches the McCormack DNA 0.5
McCormack makes its amps to match passive preamps.Since McCormack makes good and inexpencive passive premps such as Line Drive and TLC they will certainly match. You can go for more expencive models such as AudioSynthesis or Placette.
Do tube dampers really work?
Hee, When tube is microphonic it's definitely bad. Dampers help to run that bad tube with more time "unaudiable". Try to compare readings on half-dead tubes using Hal-o dampers.
How can you tell if a speaker has impedence dips?
Folks,It's always a trade off. One amplifier would feel better when it has a normal load and another one would feel better working as a welding machine with literally short circuit(upto 1 Ohm dips) depending on power supply in general so the benef...
Do tube dampers really work?
Karls, If you remember I was posting about microphonics in tubes since I had them in freequent practice for quite a-bit working with powerfull UHF radio transmitter.Tapping tubes is NOT a microphonic test since it exceeds air pressure gazillion ti...
