Top 10 Snafus to avoid when building a good rig
Good one hotmail. It can be hard to avoid that one when everyone is saying why the stuff you have that you think sounds good and actualy leverages modern technology is inherently flawed in some way because of the evli conspiracy to deny people good...
Top 10 Snafus to avoid when building a good rig
How about plopping down a new pair of speakers and then doing everything possible to make them sound better, including buying all kinds of different electronics, ICS, etc., but forgetting to tweak the placement and get things tuned in first.
Live Performances Gone Awry
I almost got trampled by the crowd as cops beat them back with sticks for throwing a bottle at a police car while waiting to get into the 100,000 seat JFK stadium in Philly at the Rolling Stones Some Girls tour in 1978. All seats were general admi...
40th Anniversary Aqualung is KILLER
Yes, Steven Wilson involvement is a very good omen! That's one dude who really cares about the music he is involved with making.I stumbled across his new and highly praised Grace For Drowning CD at the library the other day and my eyes lit up. Hav...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Also I wonder: is there a record out there with a perfectly recorded sine recorded such that it can produce a perfect sin wave with no artifacts when played?
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
One other thing I just thought of I will say is that my Dynaudios on my same system can sound a tad bright sometimes, perhaps more so with digital. THere is a consensus though with users that they can be a tad towards the bright side with some gea...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?

Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?

Should I try to improve speakers at $2000.00 range
Improve is hard to say but you can certainly go for a lot of different sounds for $2000. If you are asking, chances are you will consider at least some to be improvements as long as you match to amp and room well. the devil is all in the details.....
Are CD players dead
Petty,Yay, you're back!Get that music server working yet?I can go to HDtracks and download albums today at higher res than CD if I chose. What's the problem?Do you expect some poor schmo in Kazakhstan (Borat say) to have to pay for higher quality r...
At what volume do you typically listen?
Mwhee will likely be able to continue to enjoy his system into retirement at those levels. Good for him.A little louder on occasion is probably still OK.
Does your system take you there or...?
Agree with Pubul.I like to be about one section back dead center at the symphony and I like something similar when I listen to a symphony at home in my MUCH smaller (than the symphony hall) listening quarters. Also I am with Wolf regarding untreate...
Do you think you need a subwoofer?
Vu,Describe your listening room including size/approximate dimensions please.Thanks.
Does your system take you there or...?
Yep, different strokes for different folks for sure....

"Had this problem been addressed properly from the get-go, I suspect that about 90% of the D vs A debate in the last 30 years simply would not have occurred. "Would would constitute addressing it properly?I do not hear the brightness you refer to ...
