Is it time that Klipsch Heritage marketing a subwoofer?
Subwoofers are a relatively new thing compared to the vintage design models that the Klipsch Heritage line offers. So not sure it makes much sense to have a Heritage powered subwoofer. Would a heritage subwoofer look different than any other with ...
What does Nominal Impedance mean?
“Nominal impedance in electrical engineeringand audio engineering refers to the approximate designed impedance of an electrical circuit or device.”
Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won?
I did some remote LAN listening testing with Roon Arc. Results were mixed. When the connection worked the sound was good. That was in the am. In the afternoon Roon arc indicated a weak connection and nothing much would stream. Meanwhile Plexamp w...
WiFi extension for streaming
Should be fine.  Just need a strong connection. Use an extender if needed for that.  I do.
Demise of bass quality in Main speakers
@emergingsoul   My main speakers are Ohm F5 with 12" drivers. Retail is ~ $6K. I paid half that after discounts and trade ins. In my other smaller room I have tiny KEF ls50 metas and a powered sub. Both are well set up and do the job well. W...
Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won?
Only certain artists/albums streamed with good quality the rest of 99% just about same low-quality compressed stream that is maximum MP96. The cheaper you go the less disappointed you will be. I use add-free YouTube and switch between YouTube ca...
Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won?
Having a universe of music at my fingertips is something I never imagined just a few years ago.   It's truly a wonderful thing!  What more could you ask for? For those who already have a music library, digital or vinyl or both, and have any de...
Shootout: Roon versus Plex, Qobuz versus Tidal: Who Won?
My pleasure. I tested with only CD res files and above. Roon sounded clearer and delivered with more authority than Plex regardless of source. Like a layer of haze removed and more to hear now. Yay! Plex is also limited to CD resolution. I nee...
Demise of bass quality in Main speakers
@jumia thanks. I guess that is some kind of accomplishment? 🤔   In any case, I made some very significant upgrades to my streaming setup this weekend so that’s some form of real progress. Pure coincidence! https://forum.audiogon.com/discussion...
The "audiophile gear" I REALLY need is a damn house.

Demise of bass quality in Main speakers
It’s way more practical and cost effective these days to just add powered subwoofers to extend bass when needed. Plus there are still plenty of bigger speakers with bigger bass drivers around when desired. Good ones will just cost a bit more which...
Omega speakers -- mostly sold out, all the time?
👍 I have passed on Omega in the past as well and left wondering  when the site says nothing available. They should really fix that if not the case.
Anyone Using Plex to stream music?
BTW, just to set the table properly, I am 100% thrilled with my current streaming using Plex and Plexamp. SOunds great at home and anywhere I listen remotely even in the car via carplay. The sonic analysis features in plexamp that identifies simil...
Anyone Using Plex to stream music?
I don’t know of any hifi streamers that natively support Plex. Not an issue in that service provided apps are usually much more functional than native support built into streamers. Certainly the case with Plexamp, and even was also the case with o...
Is it possible for a high end manufacturer to overprice their goods?
If they charge enough and sell just 1 that might be all they need for easy money and a big profit. Some might call it a scam. But It’s attempted here all the time (sell something for absolute top dollar that can be finagled). It’s something agon i...
