'Holographic Sound Stage?'
Dress circle level, just right of center, Carnegie Hall.
Is soundstage just a distortion?
"I would assume that the acoustic effects of the pinnae (the part of the ear that is outside of the head) are a major contributor to the effect I described. "I see. Could be the shape of the ear is a factor, larger area above to gather more higher...
Is soundstage just a distortion?
Al,Are you able to rule out the room acoustics in your tests as a factor? That would seem to be a logical explanation for hearing different test tone frequencies at different heights. Anything about your room's acoustics that might account for it? ...

No but a big EB fan here and will have to check this out.
Will either of the speakers work in 17X17 room.
"Having heard the MBL 101e in a big room I really wanted them to work. .....If i just had a few more feet in both directions...."You and me both! As much as I like mbl, I would be hard pressed to justify the extra expense. My large OHMs are a perf...
Will either of the speakers work in 17X17 room.
If you like the mbl and room size is an issue, maybe smaller more monitor size mbl may work or again maybe consider the OHMs. GUaranteed one of the OHMs will be rightsized for that room, and they are designed to be able to go closer to walls than ...
Is soundstage just a distortion?
The question about soundstage height is a good one.I am pretty sure this is more attributable to the playback system and room acoustics than how the source is recorded in that I do not think two channel stereo format is suitable for capturing heig...
Most unusual/mesmerizing female voice.
C'mon, lot's of nice voices and talent mentioned, but none of these more unusual than Eartha Kitt, right?I'd say pretty uniquely mesmerizing as well.
Will either of the speakers work in 17X17 room.
mbl 101e bass was fine, "tight and controlled", articulate detailed, etc. when I heard them , but audition room was fairly large and well tuned acoustically. I would have some concern they might be a bit much in the bass in a 17X17 room out of the...
Greatest Composers of All Time
this would be me sitting in the horn section playing Mahler's 3rd
Greatest Composers of All Time
If I were a classical horn player, I'd aspire most to play in a performance of Mahler's third symphony !I understand the perspective but would tend to disagree that the greatest composers wrote all forms. In the case of Mahler, for example, I reca...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Tobe,My approach in landing on the Bel Cantos was No Holds Barred, to try and land the best amps I could afford that looked best on paper. It worked out well, but you could be right, and I might have been able to save some dough accordingly. I wou...
Is soundstage just a distortion?
I have one old Mercury Perfect Presence lp where the liner notes and graphics provide exact detail on performer's locations on stage during recording, the goal for the recording being to reproduce that, and for the listener to have a clear referen...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
First question for me is what Class D amp modules D-Sonic uses now. Most of what I have read has been speculationReading info on Pascal site again, Pascal may not be the most impressive Class D amp out there on paper compared to other newcomers I ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
BTW, I considered the older D-Sonic Icepower based amps at the time but ended up going with Bel Canto for significantly more cost. THe 10K input impedance rating of those older D-Sonics plus no special robust design for the Power supply to the Ice...
