Why does most new music suck? GEtting a good internet radio feed into my system was probably the best thing I ever did to help me break my ruts of listening mostly only to old favorites and giving "new" stuff a chance. It can be a mind opening experience.Soon after I added my ...
Has anyone tried an amp from Class D Audio? ""Everything being right with no soul"Strat, Are you comparing the various Class D amps apples/apples with the rest of the system all the same? Which Bel Canto amps specifically did you have and what was rest of the system?I have ref1000m monobloc...
Found good & affordable amp for Magnepans "Was it a magical, temporary alignment of cosmic forces? I don't think so because it has sounded just as amazing every day since.- Was Tom wrong and his amp does need a few days to break-in?- Was Tom right and my virgin class D ears and brain need...
Found good & affordable amp for Magnepans Spring, I'd be interested to hear if bi-amping turns out to be worth it. Ref1000ms seem to have the headroom needed to drive most any speaker most effectively alone, but maybe bi-amping with them is even better somehow.
Why does most new music suck? " I can't listen to the same stuff thousands of times any longer. "I'm with Don on this, though I find I am able to listen to the same old stuff some more, as long as there is other newer stuff to listen to as well. Newer means new to me, it could...

What is your preference, Records or CDs? Psag, Is that the dynamic range limit of analog tape used to master the best lps with the best dynamic range out there?Sounds surprisingly low to me for that but dunno the details. If so, then the tape used to master is always the bottleneck regard...

What is your preference, Records or CDs? "I listened to a recent jazz CD on the ECM label last night, and the resolution and expansive lifelike soundstage could not be bettered by vinyl."Well, I'm not so sure that the BEST vinyl might not still trump the best redbook CDs in this regard i...
Why does most new music suck? "I did prefer the time when all I seemed to need was one or two "top 40" stations, but I was young and naive and settled for some things I would not listen to now."Yes, I am fond of those days as well.Being the techn-geek I was though, when I got ...
Are 45rpms worth the price? 45s were always cheaper, smaller shorter alternatives for getting a song you like rather than the lp. Digital downloads fill that niche these days. So now 45s are pitched as hi-er fi alternatives to the same lps. GO figure! I suppose that's progre...
Should Sound Quality of Computer Audio be improved Petty,Hate to say it but your tirades sound, well, petty.BE glad you do not live in a third world country where choices are more limited and count your blessings. Unless that is where you live? In that case, better times hopefully lie ahead.
Humor In Music Bob Dylan is another that increasingly over the years often lightens things up a bit in his music with some subtle humor. He often does not seem to take what he saying too seriously anymore, he just says it and lets the cards land where they might.
Bass leaves after amp warms up? If it had a happy ending, that's good enough for me. Nobody had me in a choke hold forcing me to try to help. |
