Hi-Fi Fuses - SNAKE OIL? - or something in it? "When does it ever stop?"An appropriate albeit rhetorical question.
Never heard of Sound Projects Baltimore? I live in Baltimore area. Nice to know about.
Am I totally nuts or just a bit off? The OHM Walsh speakers I use have no match when it comes to delivering the goods with mono recordings. It's like they are there playing/singing in your room. Gotta hear it to believe it. Its about as good as it can get.
Com'on...confess.......... Whenever I hear a song I hadn't heard before by Collective Soul, I am almost always pleasantly surprised. Lots of really good songs over the years from this act that you do not hear much about. I have almost every CD of theirs and I like them all.
Does anyone like country Older country acts like Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Porter Wagoner, Jim Reeves, Chet Atkins, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I like lots of other country acts including some newer acts when I hear them. Yes I am even a Scotty McCreary fan.
Am I totally nuts or just a bit off? Good mono recordings can be a very special audio treat.
Why does most new music suck? Basie last recording from the 80's "Fancy Pants" is reference material in regards to sound quality + good performance as well. Many newer albums by newer groups are very well recorded. I find few CDs that I want to like but cannot because of poor s...
progress? So when does the new and improved 45 rpm re-issue version of the classic Telarc 1812 recording come out? That might be the new King Kong of record tracking challenges. BEst sound ever if anything could play it without the stylus getting launched a...

progress? " I think it is all about set-up, cartridge/tonearm matching and proper isolation."Having not tested out or compared the modern tables to the older in a test like this, I also suspect the overall setup is the key to success in many cases. This and...
RIP Amar Bose Obviously a very intelligent and successful man that many could and did learn from over the years. Don't know much else about him but that alone is a pretty good legacy.Bose early on was about elevating in-home sound quality mostly it seems, but o...
Poor recordings that are now great. I recognize a lot of those and no doubt many are CD recordings (some remastered and released on CD within the last 20 years or so perhaps?) that can sound fantastic when things are going right, and not so interesting otherwise. The devil is all in...
Remember the year and first vynil you ever bought? 1st record was one of those two lp Johnny Cash Sun Records hits compilations that were always being advertised on TV. Year was ~1967.1st store bought album a recall buying was a Quadraphonic version of Deep Purple Machine Head from the local Lafay...
Tube buffer or tube preamp Tube amplification is tube ampification. Buffer, preamp, doesn't really matter as long as done well and has synergy with the rest. Both can yield results ranging from really good to poor. Ic used with separate buffer will matter also. |
