You know you're an audiophile if--
"after changing anything possible - start playing with fuse direction ..."How true. Anything possible.Sadly, I lie to experiment with anything possible for sure, but I do not have time to waste, so I choose my experiments carefully.I'm sure those ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I have a fair number of country recordings both old and new. With rare exception, they all tend to sound very to really good and a revelation to most anything similar I have heard prior anywhere.
Problem with NPR
I just did a search for internet stations on my Squeezebox using the word "audiophile" and found several classical, jazz and blues oriented "audiophile" stations streaming at 320 kbps and they all sound very good.
Interesting bilind testing of Stradivarius Violin
"It's far more about the fingers and the ears than the instrument. However, if two players are more or less equal then the one with the superior instrument should prevail."I suspect the musician's ability to master any particular instrument of goo...
Problem with NPR
Always looking for high quality radio sources. Will have to search it out on internet radio and give it a try. Thanks for the tip.I'm also a Radio Paradise fan. Interesting to read about the technical details behind different Internet radio statio...
Interesting bilind testing of Stradivarius Violin
I was reading up on Stradivarius instruments on Wikipedia. From what I read, quantifying if and why these particular instruments sound different or better than others is kind of like trying to do the same with fuses in hifi gear. Clearly part of th...

Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I don't hear much about OHM subs and have never heard any. I'll be interested to hear about it as things unfold.Prices look competitive and John S. consulting can only be a bonus.
Impressed by Pangea Audio AC-9SE
I am an esoteric tweak skeptic, as some here would likely attest to, I recently bought a Pangea AC14SE, to replace a fraying old power cord for my DAC, new for less than $100 and I have been very happy with it. It does seem to have lower noise and...
Interesting bilind testing of Stradivarius Violin
Seriously, now I am very glad I am not the only audio kook out there apparently whose hearing is not fine tuned enough to be able to clearly determine that a Stradivarius sounds best. My daughter plays violin using a nice but non distinguished mod...
Not impressed
I've worked pretty hard to get good sound out of my second system using whatever I can and not having to make a huge investment. Its currently built around a 30 year old Nad 7020 receiver used as a pre-amp only at present that I picked up in a paw...
It's official, there's nothing weirder than...
Journey has always been somewhat commercially over-the top and meh for me. Wasn't the Uncle Jessie character on full house based on Steve Perry? :^)I've seen John Stamos with The Beach Boys live recently. Our "Full House" loving family got a kick ...
What direction should Hi Fi tune fuse be installed
"Penn & Teller's "Bullshit" series is smart, funny, and accurate"Unlike much of it one might find around here.
Not impressed
Can't blame anyone for feeling that way really. So much hype, crap and noise to cut through in high end audio. The only truly high end sound is the one each person puts together that floats their boat anytime they listen. So if one feels that way ab...
Beware purepower inc
Ebm is very efficient with his words, that's for sure! :^)
