Send them my way then....Did tbg buy his for list price? I'd at least want the same price as him for the same amount of sonic bliss. :^)
Seeking more 3d imaging, deeper/wider soundstage
Realremo,Check input impedance of your current amp before going with a tube pre-amp. IF not 30k-50Kohm or higher, it might not be the best match. Not all SS amps handle higher output impedance of tube pre-amps equally well. 50-60K amp input impeda...

Tbg,If you say so.I really don't care that you don't care either. :^)A big part of my work environment at a well known US corporation is a lab environment. Anything new dealing with technology here always starts there. For me, its about how things ...

I have also found Classe is a very good option for SS gear that is very transparent sounding and images well. THen there is also the good stuff from Krell as well.

Real,Next thing would be to experiment with a few simple 2'X2' or larger wall panels starting with side wall main reflection points initially, adding rear and maybe others in small increments from there if needed. Need not cost a fortune, look on ...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Not sure which is "best" but my all time favorites I have heard are my current OHM F5 series 3, mbl 111e, and Magico Mini II, Totem Mani 2, or most any model Dynaudio for smaller monitors, if not smaller OHM Microwalsh as an option to those.
Need a good easy to use music manager for PC
BEst to convert to FLAC. VArious tools for fixing tags and cover art there. No really comprehensive and fast options with .wav.I just converted 1Tb of .wav files to FLAC recently using MEdiaMonkey. Once set up correctly, the conversion took about ...
Is computer audio a bust?
PLEX is really very simple, at least the basic server and GUI apps are. Its still evolving very actively though, so I expect even better things soon down the road.It can get a little tricky when you add in things like Casting, but that is a very n...
Edgar Winter is still alive.
Ironic how people we like get the most threads only when when they die. :^(

Tbg,You definitely have a "laboratory" mentality it seems when it comes to this stuff. Nothing wrong with that, but realize that a lot of what happens in a laboratory ends up being of little value to most.I disagree that we know so little about pr...
Can we talk?
I have "splurged" but seldom ever bought merely on an impulse. No real horror stories to tell, luckily.I paid almost $4K for my current amplifiers. There were other similar amps out there for less than half that cost, but I splurged on the Bel Cant...
Why not magnetic tapes in stead of vinyl records?
Whoops I converted about 2000 CDs actually, not just 200 as I typed prior. That would take 1/10th the time to convert. :^)
Why not magnetic tapes in stead of vinyl records?
Converting formats of computer files, when needed, is relatively easy.I just converted all my .wav files to FLAC, something I knew I would do eventually when I started several years back.I did it with free MediaMonkey software, a few mouse clicks,...
Is computer audio a bust?
PLEX media server and player appliations is a very good place for anyone to start with that is looking for good sounding computer audio without a major investment in a lot of proprietary hardware, like SOnos, BlueSound, or Squeezebox in the past.P...
