Help with System Musicality
You'll get as many suggestions as people who answer and at best perhaps only be one step closer...or further away depending.Do you live near any other A'goner's?The easy way will be to go and listen to another system until you hear the one you lik...
Higher resolution Jazz
Most jazz recordings since the hifi era that started in teh late 50's, including those in mono, are pretty good quality I think. I enjoy most modern digital remasters of a lot of even older material these days. They are what they are soundwise and...

For example, I used DSP for my work office system. It started out sounding OK but not realistic, just like before HD wires in the shill cases here. Then I applied the DSP to try to get it to sound the way I know it can. DSP made things 300% better...

TBg, you don't have to agree with me or vice versa.I don't expect that any two people would do things exactly the same way. That's what makes the world go around. I'm just pointing out the alternatives for the benefit of anyone who might care.Plus...

"Mapman, And I am of the opinion that I cannot achieve the results I'm getting with digital signal processing."I have a pretty extensive professional background in DSP. I'm pretty sure it could be done. But you would have to know what to do. Just ...

The real world prices are coming down. I saw one here for $600 the other day. Just a little lower and it might start looking more like a reasonable deal for a wire that uses inexpensive common commodity materials like mu metal and magnets rather t...

Good one!I'm doing the best I can given the material here. And I was dead serious about the benefits of Digital Signal Processing as opposed to expensive wires.

Agree the best strategy to find nirvana is buy carefully used and do not overpay. Then keep or sell as needed to help finance the next try. There are fundamentals to apply in setting up a system, but alone cannot guarantee immediate success. Trial ...
Classic rock: best remasters
I've sampled the new Zep IV remaster a bit. On "Battle of Evermore" the overall inherent murkiness of the recording persists but I think the remaster helped clean it up overall somewhat. At least that was my initial impression.
What speakers for 10k?
FOr a different approach with stands, ie isolating and placement lower to floor with tilt up if needed, take a look at the larger Isoacoustics stands perhaps.I'm not saying these would necessarily be better or best, but a different approach that m...
Why do my ears ring with my new amplifier?
The spl meter idea is a good one. If things are going well you might not realize how loud things are.

DD,If I were you be considering putting a DSP unit in the mix, at least for your digital source material. Any wire that a signal is transmitted over can only transform what is fed into it. It cannot create something out of nothing. A Digital Signa...
Jazz for aficionados
Rok, My father who would have been in his 20s at the time of that concert falls into that category. He grew up poor and relatively uneducated though brought up on good ethics on a farm in rural Pennsylvania. Benny Goodman was the only jazz perform...
