Parasound and I are now tied for the Adiogon lead with three pair each I think. I have each pair in a different room. i also run Dynaudio and Triangle speakers in yet other rooms.
Brass screws make a real difference on Dunlavy s ?
The good news about brass screws is that they are still dirt cheap by audiophile tweak standards. Also they won't rust, though they will tarnish. SO I always tend to prefer them no matter the application. One can go to Home Depot and gorge on them...
Planars/ Electrostats benefits over box speakers?
Polarin mentioned OHMs, which I prefer these days over planars as well. OHMs and Walsh style drivers in general are a totally different breed of "box" speaker for many reasons. I replaced my Maggies with OHMs most recently. I hear Magies still on ...
New Pangea Audio AC-14 XL Power Cord
Jm,Yes, the 14s I have are well built and bulky. I had to manipulate them somewhat at first to stay attached securely in my small light DAC units, but once I did initially no problems since.Regarding the sound, the bass was cleaner and more articu...
Planars/ Electrostats benefits over box speakers?
I'd agree with Marty that the most distinguishing characteristics is 1) the geometry of the reverberant field and 2) differences in how air is pressurized ie you mostly just hear the music whereas with good dynamic drivers you probably can also fe...

Does alcohol impair appreciation of sound?
What do you think? How it affects others might not be very meaningful. Its how each individual is affected that matters. There is usually a period of "euphoria" associated with getting drunk, stoned or whatever where I suspect a music lover's apprec...

FWIW I'd call tightening things up maintenance and changing screws a tweak. The difference is the first is very well likely to result in an audible change to the sound whereas the second is a tougher call, especially if things were not nice a tight...
Lets talk tubes in Pharaoh Integrated
Heard both Pharoah and Sphinx recently at my dealer. Both were the real deal at their price points. Have never heard a bad demo of Rogue gear there over teh years. Rogue and ARC are his big amp lines. He said Pharoah was his favorite bar none. It ...
Holy Cow. My Vandersteen Treo's sound like new..
The right amp can often make a world of difference. That's a fact!
Buidling a Classical Library - MUST HAVES!
Sibelius Tone Poems.Finlandia, Pohjola's Daughter (BErnard Hermann's inspiration for the famous theme from the movie "Psycho") , Valse Triste, Swan of Tuonela being the most essential that I know of.
Catchy tunes that sound great?
Sound quality is mixed but I can't get the electronic dance tune "Tsunami" by DVBBS and Borgeous out of my head.I first heard it in the latest Les Mills CXworx core/abs class. Had to download it. It's the second track ("plank" track).

I'd just call keeping drivers firmly attached a good idea and leave it at that. Not worth cutting hairs about.
Tell us your worst audio dealer or mfr. experience.
Many condescending attitudes out there but most are nice. That's about the worst thing I've experienced

Brass balls are often cited as a useful tweak. ☝
