New speaker technology vs. Old speaker tech???
Also realize there are more potential truly innovative features with new speaker technology than just the resulting sound that might be the biggest reason of all for some to jump. For example, take a look at Dynaudio Xeo speakers that take on most ...

Is digital contamination that big of a deal?
Digital gear can generate a lot of RF noise that can have negative effects on other nearby gear. Its gotten much better in recent years but still something to be aware of. Really good sound is all about minimizing noise and distortion.

I am going to build a listening room

New speaker technology vs. Old speaker tech???
1) technology continuously improves. For example there are much stronger magnets available these days for use in speakers than ever before.2) Good use of technology requires a good engineer. Technology alone does nothing.3) People like different t...
MHDT Paradesea Repair? New Tube?
Most likely the 5670 tube. Always good to have a spare to test with when needed.paradisea sound changes radically with different tubes so tube rolling with paradisea is a worthwhile exercise in of itself.
Is DEQX a game changer?
This is good stuff. Al, you are the right guy for this job! Could this be the holy grail of tweaks? On paper, to the extent I understand it so far, it (DSP done well and right) has teh potential. I can't wait to hear how it turns out.
Good bass test tracks on vinyl
"get thy bearings". By Donovan on essential Donovan has very nice clean acoustic upright bass. In "tsunami" by Dvbbs and Borgeus the throbbing synthesized bass as the tsunami hits is awesome.
Picture Thread
Can anyone explain to me in general if possible what is the advantage of a preamp with many internal components? What's the advantage of so many parts? Or at least the theory. I don't get it. Is it like an old fashioned equalizer the more bands or...
