You don't hear much about Al Jolson anymore these days, but yes, he was the biggest star of his time as I recall.Says a lot.
Dynaudio or Ohm?
Regarding tonality, I would say the OHMs tend to be as dead neutral as anything I have heard whereas the Dynaudios tend to have a touch of warmth and a hotter more exiting top end that can also tend towards a bit more fatiguing depending on what's...
Dynaudio or Ohm?
I have had OHms and Dynaudio Contour, not Focus, running concurrently off teh same gear in different rooms for several years now. So I am very familiar with these two. There are significant differences between OHM Walsh and Dynaudio for sure. It sh...

The LCD almost always consists of:1) hot girls and/or the talented girl next door 2) cute or hunky guys 3) catchy beats4) pushing the boundaries of morality of the day5) lots of attitude. At least as much as teh masses will tolerate which is a lot...

Pop music has always been pretty lowest common denominator. The LCD has changed a lot and probably broadened over teh years resulting in a bunch of stuff that mostly all sounds and looks the same. Its all the other stuff always around that gets fac...

Its somewhat entertaining along the lines of a circus perhaps, but musically MTV keeps lowering the bar every year. The early glory days of teh 80s and the music videos then seem like Beethoven in comparison. Can it go any lower?

"You have to walk the party line or get reported and slapped."Another job for Donald Trump. I wonder how much he pays for his wires? Probably more for his hair. :-)

"Give the kid a break. "She's very talented for her age.Not sure how much more of a "break" I can give her.I just do not find a grade school child singing the traditional blues very compelling. Its more disturbing to me than entertaining. That son...
Best integrated up to $6000
Rogue Pharoah for half that amount just might be all the amp most people will ever need, especially for those who also need phono. It's very good! I would consider downsizing to it someday.
Who is going to the Capital Audiofest?
So how was it this year? Anything new or different to create a buzz?I did not see much in the preliminary show adverts to that end, but I would have liked to have been able to go anyhow because you never know what you might discover listening live.

She's very unique for a little kid, singing like a much older and affected singer. But at that age I suspect its mostly imitation. How affected and genuine can someone that age be singing the blues like the immortal Dinah Washington? VEry impressi...

"To be specific: Cable Asylum...and humorless too."And one would expect what there exactly? Wires tend to be somewhat controversial leaving little room for humor. No room for humor says a lot about the validity of whatever might be going down there.
"Audio Gone" question for Audiogon experts
I will likely never part with my NAD 7020 receiver. Its an oldie but goodie. The pre-amp in particular, including phono still sounds great even in comparison to more modern and much more expensive gear. The 20 w/ch amp sets a high bar as well with...
It Was 40 Years Ago Today...
Dylan's latter recordings starting with time out of mind are some of my favorites from him so he broke that model to a large extent in my mind.
