When will there be decent classical music recordings? That there is technology capable of reproducing live music as well as it does is essentially a miracle that everyone should be thankful for. When hifi first hit the mainstream it was a big deal and resulted in many very high quality recordings in ...
When will there be decent classical music recordings? You might try omnidirectional speakers or something along those lines in order to be able to get multiple perspectives similar to the concert hall based on where you listen from. Stand in between them and you might get something llike what you wou...
When will there be decent classical music recordings? For a perspective similar to sitting in teh middle of the orchestra, perhaps some of the quadraphonic recordings from years back played back on quad gear if any still around. That went over really well..... :^)
When will there be decent classical music recordings? perhaps its the ambience of symphony hall that is missing at home? in which case you just need a bigger room with a suitable system for playback. Not likely that recordings will get much better than they have to-date so I would not bank on that.
Audio and the acoustic therapy of spaces I don't know about therapy but I always pay attention to how the space around me sounds. It's very educational and interesting.
Hated my Pro-Ject Debut III looking for another budget option. Kind of thinking Thorens I will never buy any table with a hanging counterweight.
Finally stepping into the hobby after 30 years of watching from the sidelines Pics would definitely help. The trick is always to get the right speakers for the placement in the room and then the best amp possible to drive them. From your description I can understand the appeal of the Vandersteens. Something tube amp friendl...
Finally stepping into the hobby after 30 years of watching from the sidelines Could you do corner placement of speakers? How about Klipschorns and a nice arc or vac tube integrated amp? Or a Rogue Cronus Magnum? Or even a Glow Audio Amp 1 or Decware Zen triode integrated? That would be very nice, practical for good lis...
Tell Us about an Album That Took a Long Time to Grow on You I'm still working on really enjoying Bitches Brew. Groundbreaking at the time but great music? Not so sure. One of my least favorite Miles Davis albums still.
Finally stepping into the hobby after 30 years of watching from the sidelines Have you heard those Vandersteens off a good quality higher powered modern Class D amp? I’d be willing to bet set up well and done right the results would be stellar and hard to beat at any comparable price (with tube or SS amps) if budget is a fa...
Finally stepping into the hobby after 30 years of watching from the sidelines The thing is there is nothing inherently tube amp friendly about those Vandersteens that I can see from the specs. In fact they would appear to not be a good match at all to a tube amp. They have impedance down to 4 ohms and 86db efficiency rating...
step inside Klipsch fans and fanatics Very interested in comparisons of Klipsch to others by those with experience. The event that awakened the "audiophile" in me many years ago was first time hearing the Fleetwood Mac album on a pair of Klipsch circa 1977 or so. I've had a soft spot...
Review: Ohm Acoustics Ohm Walsh 100 Series 3 Speaker News posted on www.ohmspeakers.com says Ohm will be at the New York Audio show in November. They will likely be running Ohm 1000s powered by Peachtree Nova 300. The new Peachtree is 300 w/ch Class D Icepower. That should be quite the combo!

SET 45 Amp Driving Dynamic Speakers Charles, yes Atmasphere s-30 would be nice and I have considered but looking for a more compact integrated amp initially. Still waiting to see an Atmasphere OTL integrated amp. :^).This would be a third system in a smaller room if I do it and... |
