MHDT dac...and which streamer/server?
I think most any good quality streamer will do well for you with  a mhdt dac.  I am still quite happy with my SS mhdt Constantine. The sound is similar on many ways to that off my Linn phono setup.   I use an ARC tube preamp with both.
Seems like a lot of folks are putting their Primaluna amps for sale...
Probably just a reflection of good market share for Primaluna and Audiogon being a good place to sell tube gear for top dollar.
New old or old new?
No 35-45 year old components or speakers unless totally redone by someone who knows what they are doing please in which case they are essentially like  new.
Is my room size going to be a problem for speakers?
I would expect those Magicos to do really well in a small room in that they are three ways with midrange and tweet in fairly close proximity not to mention they are Magicos helped out with not one but two subs. Very nice indeed!
Tuning Collars on speaker cables - concept and any good?
Tuning infers a process that is somewhat predictable. Randomly mucking with the signal passing through a cable sounds like playtime for bored audiophiles. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Trying to distort your signal in a good way that ...
Who's Gone Topless?
Real audiophiles always go topless so everyone can see their expensive circuits.
Is my room size going to be a problem for speakers?
Small rooms are the easiest to set up for good sound. The choices are endless. Most important thing: carefully manage the bass produced by the main speakers. You can always supplement them with a sub and get it just right but if too much/too big y...
Tuning Collars on speaker cables - concept and any good?
Yes some people love to play with new audio toys, especially fancy or esoteric  expensive ones and strain to hear or convince themselves of some meaningful difference so lots of merit there
Is there such a thing as too much power?
If you don’t have enough power you clip.  When you clip good watts go bad no matter how awesome they were to start with. Clipping is hifi public enemy #1 to avoid at all costs.  Wats in reserve are your insurance policy.  Make your amp work too ha...
I think it’s completely overwhelming...
Keep it simple, stick to basics,  stay with products and companies with a proven track record, and it will be OK.  This ain’t rocket science.
Perfect Path Total Contact no longer?
BE alert for the campaign of confusion that we will be subjected to continuously until November in order to distract from facts. Nothing negative or harmful to fearless leader’s image will ever be admitted to or responsibility taken by the current...
power cord directionality
Who knows.  Try it and see if you must.
Heresy IVs
I would speculate that since the 4s go deeper in the bass than 3s then amps may run out of gas sooner and they may not be as good in some ways as 3s with lower powered amps. Low powered tube amps might soft clip sooner. It’s basic physics that you...
Why no interest in reel to reel if you're looking for the ultimate sound?
Less practical now than it ever was.
It happened again tonight
The original vinyl release of “The Wall” is a very good recording, one of the best rock recordings of its time. I sold a lot of hifi gear with that recording. “Aja” by Steely Dan another. Jeff Wayne’s “War of the Worlds” recording another personal...
