The bass is the place...
Iy is true you need multiple bass transducers like a powered sub to get bass right across a room. However most speakers only can get the the rest right in a single sweet spot so a single sub can serve well for that as well. To get it all right acr...
The bass is the place...
Yup the extra work needed to produce bass coupled with how our ears work makes for a double whammy.
The bass is the place...
As frequency decreases the work that must be done to maintain flat response increases exponentially. Bigger rooms magnify the task even more. It’s basic physics. In many cases it is the amp that is not up to the task of driving the speakers proper...
What is the average dealer mark up?
Good idea.  It's a beautiful day.
What is the average dealer mark up?
Well I don’t hear any riots so people clearly don’t care about your margins much like your products.
What is the average dealer mark up?
The "high end" tweak hawkers will never disclose their margins.  People would riot.
What is the average dealer mark up?
BS that markup on cables accessories, and tweaks is similar to electronics and speakers. That is where the big margins have always lived and where it is taken to the limits in "High End Audio" anywhere by those who can. When I was in retail, we wer...
What is the average dealer mark up?
It ranges from what you would find at high volume Walmart to that you would find in a low volume, high overhead, exclusive Soho boutique (pre-pandemic).I like my hifi vendors somewhere in the middle.
Yamaha R-N803 one of the best values in high-end audio?
When in doubt it’s hard to go wrong with Yamaha.
Magico vs the world
I’ve heard Magico. Very nice! But Ohms do it better for way less IMHO.
For efficient speakers, how much difference does an amp really make?
Efficiency and easy load are not the same.  Efficiency means things get louder faster. An easy load means all frequencies get handled similarly and lesser difference to be expected  from amp to amp other than how loud things go.
IM Distortion, Speakers and the Death of Science
Death of science? What does that mean? Buyers aren’t scientists.  Also there are new innovations all the time....thanks to science.  Amazingly the good ones catch on.
Albums that you listen to straight through / start to finish whenever you put them on!

Most eye-opening upgrade and what you learned
After many years of being blind to it, I was looking at the cover of Peter Gabriel’s album “Up” just now and learned his face is on there. Who knew?
Why not underhung voice coil?
Interesting one of the best sounding and performing speakers I am familiar with, the Fritz Carerra, uses underhung voice coil. Would never have taken notice prior.
