Who's your guitar daddy now?
"Stop calling Mayer NEW guys!"He is relatively new compared to a lot of the old geezer guitar god names we are throwing out there. For example, Justin Hayward is in his 60's now I believe as is Neil Young and probably Clapton, Beck, and most of the...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Rebbe,One other thing regarding break-in is that with the larger drivers, even the 100 to some extent it will break in best if you are able to "crank it up" a bit from time to time to really help "loosen things up". They will take as much clean po...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Marty,The thing to me that distinguishes the OHMs from many other designs at their particular price point per room size IS their ability to open up and shake the rafters at more realistic listening volumes with little or no fatigue (with proper am...
Can digitizing vinyl match CD?
"Any benefit burning a redbood CD on the Masterlink to 24/88.2? Being the original source material is 16/44.1, is it that if it isn't already there, it won't make a difference?"I would say no benefit. Adds overhead of larger files with no benefit.
What interconnects work best with Audio Research?
I agree with the MIT suggestion for ARC but I do not consider them (at least the "terminator" serires that I use) to be warm sounding at all nor particularly colored in any special way.

Reb,Your observations are similar to what I observe between 100s and 5s in my larger room.Don't forget to break out the pipe organ music though.....

Does power conditioning really matter?
I use a very basic Monster strip (about $200 retail a few years back) in my system. It made a noticeable difference when added, greater clarity and focus I would say. I've felt no urge to try anything else. It works just fine at least in my case.
Can digitizing vinyl match CD?
Is it possible for digitizing vinyl to match or exceed commercial Red Book CDs?Match, no. Exceed, maybe. The results will sound different than any CD mastering in most cases. Could be better or could be worse or could just be a matter of preferenc...
Does power conditioning really matter?
IT can.Depends on the condition of the power to start with.
Which component has the most importance?
They all have to work well together.Getting speakers to fit the room correctly is the first thing to assure, then build and tweak from there.Sometimes, the best tweaks cost little or nothing to implement.
With $20,000 in your hand, what speaker would you
Seriously, with the economy these days, most anyone should think 3 or 4 times before dropping more than $6-8 or maybe $10 grand on speakers. I think there is something to meet most anyone's needs realistically in this price range.
