Why are there so many Mac users?
I've never been a Mac fan and I do not care for Apple at all. Then again, I really do not care much for PCs either, but at least there is a more open market for PC related gear which benefits the end user from a cost of ownership perspective.I go ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
"It sounds like the Manley/Canto combo is working for you. I think that rig will be hard to improve upon, without getting into crazy $$$!"I'd tend to agree. Rebbe, I think you did quite well!
How do you chose speakers based on room size?
""In a small room I like a fairly narrow pattern that can be aimed to minimize early sidewall reflections""For me there are two viable approaches to fitting speakers into a particular room, large or small:1) Do everything you can to isolate the sp...
My Line Arrays and Dynaudio monitor - where to go
I do not see Dynaudios discounted much at all when I encounter them at dealers. They are a gold standard in the high end audio world it seems.I had to go used and bought a pair off Ebay in order to gain admission into even the Contour series which...
Magnepan Placement
Most Maggies require a lot of power and current from the amp to deliver to the max. Same with SMGs I would think. Do not underpower for best results. Also make sure amp can drive lower impedances effectively.Regarding location, well out from rear ...
how big a speaker can you put in an 11 x 11 room?
No experience with the shorts but vertical position relative to the drivers does effect the tonality, so that would have to be a consideration. Plus, low end extension must be more limited with the short cabinet. MWTs would have all the advantages...
What to choose?????
Toss up. They're all good.Audio Research is the line I would lean towards based on limited personal experience.

How do you chose speakers based on room size?
"Duke, That explains alot and makes a good case for a midrange driver that covers as much frequency range as possible. "Consistent also with my positive experience using OHM Walsh and Triangle 2-way monitor speakers in my small room, both of which...
how big a speaker can you put in an 11 x 11 room?
I have a very vanilla 12X12X8 office/listening room. Concrete foundation with thin carpeting, drywall, typical office furnishings including couch to listen from (photo in my system posting).Ive tried B&W floorstanders, Maggies, Triangle and Dy...
how big a speaker can you put in an 11 x 11 room?
No doubt I'd put a pair of OHM Micro Walsh Talls in there, build around that and be done. They are explicitly designed to go into small rooms in particular.I use slightly larger OHM Walsh 2s with OHM Walsh 100 series 3 drivers in a 12X12 room. The...
My Line Arrays and Dynaudio monitor - where to go
If you feel you need to change, you are on a good track.Dynaudios are hard to beat and C1s are very good Dyns. From the specs you provide on the Nuforce, I think your amp should do just fine as well.I use a fairly juicy 120w/ch Musical Fidelity A3C...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Joe, I think 100w/ch is a good match to the Micro Talls particularly at that price point. My Musical Fidelity A3CR amp is only 120w/ch and drives my Walsh 100S3s and even my larger Walsh 5S3 extremely well. The MF amp cost me about $600 used off of ...

Joefish said:" I got the Beatles 2009 remasters recently, and for better or worse, they show you what's there, warts and all. "YEs, I have the monos and a few stereo remasters. Overall, they are the best digital versions I have heard and the OHMs ...
