Jazz from 1957 to 1967 was the most definitive.
Fun discussion!Reminds me to give Ken Burn's Jazz Mini-series a play again sometime soon. I recorded the entire series on vhs back when it first ran. That is a must view resource for anyone who would like to learn A LOT about the history of jazz a...

If you do an online test on a computer, make sure your speakers have a flat frequency response throughout the test range. Not sure many speakers built into computers have that....
New audiophile looking for first speakers. HELP
For Death/heavy metal to sound good with tube amplification, look for higher efficiency speakers (90db or greater) with impedance ratings that do not dip much below 8 ohms.BTW, I think your speaker choices will be limited by going with a tube amp....
Fleetwood Mac
How about a Broadway show based on the music of Fleetwood Mac called "Go Your Own Way" perhaps to challenge "Mamma Mia"? The story could cover all the personnel changes and romantic flings between band members using various FM tunes. Starring Cath...

"Any truth that a viagra tab on top of KT 88's improves the sound?"Wouldn't surprise me, though I have no personal experience. Viagra dilates blood vessels I think, which should have the effect of stimulating ALL the senses I would think.COuld be ...

I have not read his book, but in fairness to Jim Smith, he appears to have very good audio credentials, it sounds like he did not in fact say what the OP indicated, and his book appears to be quite practical based on the descriptive info available...
Any UFC fans out there?
I love UFC and mixed martial arts competitions and do some training in that area, more for fitness goals than anything else. I have also been a fan of pro wrestling since a kid. That is my second most common topic I blog on for fun after audio!

The Tonian approach to cabinet design and resonance control (more "instrument" like) was something I had not heard of before that sounds very interesting. I'm wondering do any of these others take a similar approach?
What is your favorite guitar solo of all time?
A lesser known one that stays with me is Steve Hackett's (Genesis) in Firth of Fifth. Another is Andrew Latimer's (Camel) in "Long Goodbyes" on the album "Stationary Traveler" (so many by him....).Clapton's in the Beatles 'While My Guitar Gently W...

Obviously, different people hear differently at any age.of course as you get older , your hearing does change. Normally, the ability to hear very high frequencies deteriorates normally to some extent as you age. What happens from there I think is ...

I acquired my appreciation for Lindsey Buckingham's talent and key role in later FM when I first saw their live "The Dance" concert performance on DVD. He is a true musical dynamo on guitar!FM has always been a very up and down band to me. Fantast...

I have not heard many like that actually. Some I would like to hear are Avantgarde and Classic Audio Reproductions (I think their horns qualify though I do not know their efficiency specs).Cardersound is a reasonably priced line that I would like t...

How highly efficient? Is 89-90 db enough? I think that gets you into the ballpark with most good tube amps. Or are we talking only horn loaded or similar designs much higher than that?
Fleetwood Mac
"Then Play On" would be next for me.Be aware that this is a totally different beast bearing the same name. The full version of "Oh Well" on there is a seldom heard classic and worth acquiring just for that, but the rest is worth it also. Also Linds...
