Joefish said:" I got the Beatles 2009 remasters recently, and for better or worse, they show you what's there, warts and all. "YEs, I have the monos and a few stereo remasters. Overall, they are the best digital versions I have heard and the OHMs ...

"I myself have some recordings that are unbearable on my MWT's, foremost being 'In the Court of the Crimson King" 80's CD pressing by King Crimson. Unlistenable since I got the Ohm's (I have not gotten the remaster yet). The speakers are just too ...
How do you chose speakers based on room size?
It costs a lot less to get a great sounding system in a smaller room. Its not that complicated. Smaller speakers + lower power amp typically brings the cost down a lot (except for Magico). And fewer room treatments if you decide those are necesary.
How do you chose speakers based on room size?
For best imaging and soundstage, you want a tight driver configuration that approximates a point source in smaller room with more a more nearfield listening configuration.Planars, line sources, etc. with larger sound emitting area can work well in...
Is Hi-fi getting more expensive?
Tvad is probably right. On the bright side, fewer people interested might result in increased availability of good used pieces and drive down the cost for many fine pieces for the remaining dinosaurs like us.
DAC that re-clocks for under $1000?
Surprisingly, I still do not think any others than BEnchmark have been identified and confirmed?
Is Hi-fi getting more expensive?
Not necessarily. In 1978, ~ $600 would buy you a decent entry level system new (receiver, speakers, turntable and cart).YOu can walk into Best Buy today and get an entry level 2 channel system with multi format DVD or even blu ray player for probab...
New House: Audio room/Office
Setting up a listening/audio/office room in a new house is certainly a viable thing to do. I did just that when our current house was built (check out my system listing here on Agon). My solution was for the office (12X12) to house the equipment a...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Bondman,Piano dynamics can be among the most challenging to reproduce accurately, so I think that is one good test for most any system.Something is not right somewhere in the system, if you are hearing audible distortion as opposed to some tonal b...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Fin,Look at my system pic titles "thebigohms". I usually listen from the blue swivel chair, anywhere from about where it is in the pic or further back, usually at least 8' or more in front of the speaks or for casual listening sometimes from the c...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Bondman,No experience with the newer 1000 series drivers or their tonality. I would certainly not expect any audible distortion though. What does John Strohbeen say about it?

My larger room is L shaped, approximately 20' base and 30' length. The F5s in that room have a three way adjustment for room size (small, medium, large) to fit them to various room sizes that other non adjustable models are designed to go into (plu...
Review: Ohm Acoustics Ohm Walsh 100 Series 3 Speaker
Rbwinterlink,It depends mostly on room size. Please provide the dimensions of your room and if anything unusual or special about it?My OHM F5s replaced a pair of full size Maggies prior in the same room. They are most outstanding with big band musi...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Tim,The MF is a good compromise between size and musical authority and I am not one to rock the boat. I've come close to pulling the trigger on a ARC d400 mkII and a MF A308CR, but have resisted so far.My second system is the one that is underpowe...
