Dynaudio C1, why so expensive?
Listen to them properly set up compared to others at a similar or lesser price point and see what you think. You are paying for two things: good looks and build quality and top notch sound in a small package. I heard $5500/pair Totem Mani's recentl...
Gallo 3.1 sounds slow and veiled...why?
I think you have an underpowered tube amp for those speakers.A high power, high current SS would make a big difference I'd bet.I'd try a good Class D Icepower, like Wyred, Bel Canto or others. Wyred would not set you back too much.
The "great" sound of reel to reel explained
Yes, who in their right mind would prefer cold to warm? And neutral is average or boring depending on how you look at it.I want speakers that swing all three ways. That's why I run 6 or more pair at a time in different rooms.
Dynaudio C1, why so expensive?
They cost more than Merlin tsms or Totem Manis. They cost way less than Magico minis. They are expensive or a bargain depending on your perspective. Most new speakers have huge profit margins compared to electronics usually. You can't judge the value...

if its not real and does not sound exactly like the source, its distorted in some, often multiple ways.Of course what the source actually sounded like is often unknown. What you here is what was recorded the way the recording engineer wanted to re...

Albert Porters after market panzerholz plinths
Table/arm/cart function as a system. You can toss the plinth, mat, and anything else that is there for benefit of the table into that system also. You want to optimize each system and compare. Components that perform optimally in one system may no...

Interesting thread. My theory is there are lots of ways to make good soup. Also thank God not all soup tastes the same, no matter how good it may be.

Speakers for Dance music and other
How about a pair of OHM Walsh omni speakers with the huge sweet spot. These are full range, will take whatever power you throw at them and go as loud as you like clearly and not blast people out of the room. I even used a pair for an outdoor party...
The Hub: Just how bad is it in high end audio?
Unfortunately, there is some truth in regards to high end audio being a cult like thing and also that there are credibility issues that most are incapable of dealing with effectively. Now, rather than worry, back to listening to some music.I'd be w...
Tube maintenance for Audio research sp-16 pre-amp
NEwbee, yes, the noise was in one channel only.More of a very high frequency whine, like a dentist drill, but very constant in tone, than a "buzz". Not very loud either, you have to mute and unmute the pre-amp to be sure it is there unless you lis...
The Hub: Just how bad is it in high end audio?
Actually,, I think high end audio is better than ever for serious audio consumers in general. Those who are not serious about there sound or audio manage to still get by just fine these days also.I don't doub't many vendors are having trouble, but ...
The Hub: Just how bad is it in high end audio?
I suppose those that offer good service and value are most likely to survive as is generally the case. Its a lot harder to provide good value than it is to provide good sound when cost is not an issue. Natural selection?
