7.1 system suggestions for a two channel guy Do they have to be in-wall, or can they be on-wall? Anthony Gallo speakers are perfect for on-wall HT setups, and can still produce wonderful 2-channel sound. You can mix the Reference Strada and A'Diva in any combination to have a great system. I...
MartinLogan Motion 4 vs Gallo A'Diva I use the Gallo A'Diva (non-Ti) for my TV speakers. They are infinitely better than those in the TV...however, they reveal everything. Any static, or line noise is coming through, as there is no crossover to buffer this out. I am now using the Cam...
DIY. Whose speakers would you use? I've been researching this for a while now, as I am going to build some next year. I am going to build single driver (aka no crossover), rear-loaded horn speakers, with a bass augmentor to fill out the bottom end (Curvy Chang). Check out http://ww...
Maggies with Tubes? You could always try a Grant Fidelity Tube Buffer to add some tube warmth to your ss amps. I use one and I love the combination. I also use class D with tube preamp and it sounds lovely. Inexpensive way to see how they sound. :-)Mot
Help with used "rock" speakers under 4K Check out the Mirage OMD-28s at vanns. Bargain of the year, bass to die for, and when I crank Tool...I get goosebumps. Give them ample power and a couple feet around them, and you will not stop smiling. Mot
$20k top, full range speakers? At that price range, the top of the list for me would be the Magnepan MG 20.1 and Martin Logan CLX. You have the power to push them, and there are few speakers in the world that can match them. Might want to give them a listen. Just my $.02Mot
Monoblocks, passive bi-amped or passive tri-amped? Hey thanks for the input @Poprhetor, I haven't had the chance to do much testing yet, as I am a snowbird and away from my main system for the winter. :-( Before I left, I did try single amping and passive bi-amping from my Marantz. I felt there wa...
Opinions Mirage OMD-15 - OM Design speaker - 2.5-w I will concur with Johnnyb53...I really enjoyed the OMD-15s and would highly recommend them, but the 28s are infinitely better if you can afford the space and extra bucks. They are truly incredible speakers...and I'm only using a Marantz amp at 11...
Need to select a pair of main speakers for HT Since your main focus is HT, I think you need to seriously consider a Mirage setup from Vanns. They have ridiculous sale prices on the system that was awarded the 'Best Home Theatre Speakers' for 2007. If you research, you will find the article. I...
Gallo Strada Reference In a room that size, I think the A'Divas would be plenty, but if you want a bit more from the center, you could also look at a used Gallo Due for the center. Probably a quarter as much as the Strada. I think the Strada might be overkill with A'Div...
Gallo Strada vs Paradigm Signature S1 @Dhoff01: Yeah, the 6moons review was one of the main reasons they are in my top two. I use the A'Diva on my desktop now, and the detail and delicacy of the music is truly amazing. I'm lost in my decision. :-)
travelling speakers Lokie is right on. I have yet to hear a travel system that sounds anywhere near as good as the Model 12, and is as compact and durable. I own the A2s, and although they are pretty good...they pale in comparison to the Model 12. They are boxed in m...
travelling speakers I have a couple travel systems, as I travel a bit. I think the absolute best travel system I've had is the Cambridge SoundWorks Model 12. 3-way amp, with 2 satellite speakers, and the case is a subwoofer. Brilliant. I often use different satellite...
Making active speakers with 4 Gallo A'Divas My main question is still unanswered. I am using a sub for 100hz and below, and still need to figure out how to determine the best crossover point for the two A'Divas. I am not interested in running them full-range...thats the point of my project....
Would you pay to listen? Mrtennis said:"the sound of a live concerts is so superior to that of any stereo system, that i will not pay to listen to a stereo system."Sometimes it is...many times it isn't. That will depend hugely on the venue, where you sit/stand, how well t... |
