Digital Improving All the Time?
Streaming is definitely evolving.  Usb and WiFi used to be audible comprises but no longer.  The resolving power of DACs are increasing as well, particularly their ability to play DSD.  Contrast this with analog, where the only thing that has gone...
Another one (server) bites the dust!
Has the OP considered Melco?  It requires a decent usb input on the DAC
Apple TV Internet Radio
I checked TuneIn on the Apple Store, and they now want a monthly subscription, $8/month.  Yet it continues to be free on the Bluesound Node2-happily listening to it now-and on my Cambridge Audio streamer in a different system.
Here comes the PS Audio's streamer -- anyone excited?
Does it have any features such as Chromecast, AirPlay, or Bluetooth?  How does it handle Internet Radio and Podcasts?  And what App is controlling it?     All of the above are imo important for streamers.  I got rid of a Bryston streamer which so...
Distortion using OPPO 103 w Streaming and CD's, but not with DVD playback
Try rebooting the Oppo.  If that doesn’t work check the settings on the Oppo.
Apple TV Internet Radio
@fredrik222    The Tune In App is a freebie.  It used to be included in ATV ( it would be on the opening screen) .  My ATV is a few years old and I gather now Tune In might have to be added from the App store.  At any rate the interface on the A...
Is there such a thing as a FOREVER DAC/streamer?
The OP actually gives a very good reason for not breaking the bank on a streamer/dac.  If you spend $20K on the latest hot streamer, that may put a crimp in your ability to upgrade for a while.  As he noted digital technology changes very fast, an...
BluSound Node and Node 2
even though I’ve had a couple of Bluesound units go bad after a few years, I still use one that has survived and recommend Bluesound as an entry point to people who want high resolution streaming. It does an amazing number of things, and fairly we...
BluSound Node and Node 2
@hilde45    these threads pop up constantly, just do your own search.
BluSound Node and Node 2
@danimaz    you aren't alone.  There are many satisfied Bluesound owners who have gotten good sound and longevity from their units but I am not among them.  I bought a Valut2 and two Node2s at once because I wanted the whole home thing.  THe Val...
Blu Ray player versus CD/SACD player.
@ianhorseman    I probably got needlessly complicated in my post.  Suffice to say when I got the Bryston DAC3 I used the HDMI input for everything, SACD and red book, as the HDMI inputs seem to give results equal to their other inputs.  My room ...
Blu Ray player versus CD/SACD player.
Budget? I use a 105 in to a Bryston DAC3.  The Bryston has HDMI inputs.  I output the DSD layer into the HDMI for SACD, and for redbook I use one of the S/PDIF outputs into a mini DSP (room processor-it won’t work with SACD).  Before I had the mi...
Apple TV Internet Radio
Apparently Apple hasn’t figured out that one can go to the IP site for the individual stations, then Air Play it to the home pad.  Probably the next update will nix that.

I’ll answer my own query.  Now one has to pay for what had for free before.  Apple Voice.  How stupid of me not to realize this was
Music that has a hold of me beyond understanding
Bax  is one composer that I have just never been able to get, except possibly some of his Chamber Music.  His music is full of clotted harmonies and stasis.  Perhaps I can try Tintagel again
