So how do you regard the art of Celibidache?  Another artist famous for going his own way, for conceiving of music as statements, rather than a series of notes?

My piano teacher was just recommending a Nyir….recording yesterday.  He then started giving me a brief bio of the performer.  I was thinking what are the chances that two people in my orbit would be extolling him a few days apart.   In the late 19...
Time to upgrade AV Receiver
I have the Anthem..  It isn’t bright, but agree that Marantz will probably fit your taste better

Can you contact Denon?  Have you tried another source besides Bluetooth?
Building Analog System
Not sure the Technics can be had at the budget here, but if so I would grab it

Scriabin has always impressed me for his color.  He was vey interested in synesthesia, the pairing of visual colors and tones.  It can be heard to isolate the contours of his work, as it isn’t as driven by the traditional type of sonata form, with...

Reading these posts I was reminded of the Toscanini quote about the famous first movement of Beethoven Fifth:  “For some, this represents Fate Knocking at the door: for me it’s just Allegro Con Brio”.   The point being that we can become so enthus...
Ripping CD's to SSD?
OP I am not sure that you understood my last post.  To repeat, the first step is to record the files to the Samsung Hard Drive.  The Aurender doesn’t even have to be turned on for this.  Then attach the HD to the Aurender.  The MacBook doesn’t nee...
Seeking Schumann 4th that is listenable
The performance cited in the OP is by John Eliot Gardiner conducting the LSO on their house label.  These recordings are made in the Barbican in London.  The Barbican has terrible acoustics.   I haven’t heard this Schumann set but the Mendelssohn,...
Bluesound node 2i wifi vs bluetooth connections sound quality
I had the Node 2i.  The Bluetooth sucked compared to the wired or WiFi. To be fair, I haven’t heard the latest Bluetooth codec.  The 2i, however used an older lousy codec.  Not sure what the NodeX does for Bluetooth
Ripping CD's to SSD?
Good advice here.  Not sure why the OP is ripping to a usb flash drive when his stated intent was to rip to a Samsung HD.   The first step to is to just rip to the Samsung HD.  Just put a disc in the Apple Optical Drive and have both that and the...
HDCD vs the Newer SHM-CD, BluSpec, UHQCD, etc
exceptthat the Blue Spec rips sound better than the red book or red book rips.  I just really didnt notice a difference between the Blue Spec spinning of an Oppo or a rip of the same
Stoned ice coffee?
Wow, that Johnny Cash story suggests a lot of possibilities for using song titles to sell products.  How about “A Hard Days Night “ and Viagra?
Richard Strauss Recordings
First of all, I really appreciate the discussion here. I think that there is too much of a tendency to criticize Strauss for a certain slickness and commercialism.  Strauss never wanted to be a starving composer eking out an existence and be fete...
Complete vinyl system, TT to speakers, for $1500?
@panzrwagn  I would totally stick with Japanese products to avoid that situation and given the limited budget, shipping costs.  It’s not like the country is an electronic backwater
