Rega Planar 3 50th anniversary
@goodlistening64      I didn’t want to go through the whole song and dance about the experience with the Rega P5, but since you asked..   I bought the P5 and the PSU from a reputable dealer here in Chicago.  The PSU died when it was under warra...

Rega Planar 3 50th anniversary
OP   your question is would a Rega P3 improve over a Technics Direct Drive. I once owned a Rega P5.  They sold with an extra box that was supposed to guarantee speed stability.  I should have asked myself why they needed a separate box to cure a...
The Unmeasurable Aspects of High-End Audio – PS Audio
@carlsbad2    I agree with your first sentence, you are quibbling.  I saw the video yesterday and I felt that he perfectly nailed my sentiment, which is that we haven’t discovered all of the factors that go into appreciating reproduction of musi...
I Don't Understand What Determines When A Thread Gets The Axe
I didn’t see the thread in question, but my guess is someone threatened legal action
Starting a Classical Vinyl Music Collection
I lusted after DG lps in the day, and there are many that are treasurable, but on the whole it’s interesting how poor DG was a recording bass.  At first I thought maybe it was a Karajan thing, but many Bohm and Jochum recordings have the same issue
Best single volume guide to classical music
I haven’t actually read this type of book in decades, so any recommendation I might make will be outdated and perhaps unavailable.  Martin Bookspan had a book that I used in the seventies, and I saw a copy in a used bookstore a bit back.  You migh...
DAC/Streamer/PreAmp
I add my voice to the separate crowd.  You have enough budget for a great preamp, DAC, and streamer.  Streaming is still evolving, and if you want to upgrade as things change you don’t want to be tied into other components that you don’t want to c...
Old phones as streaming sources
I recently switched from Android to an iPhone but there is one streaming app that doesn’t run well in Macland so I did the exact thing the OP mentioned when I listen to this service.  It works well.  The caveat is the app is for Pristine Classical...
Streaming upgrade from Cambridge Audio cxn v2
Do you have the newest CXN v2 with ESS chip, or the older version?  I am a huge fan of the CA unit but in my main system I run it into an external DAC (Bryston DAC3).  I would start with a DAC upgrade and see how you like the CA just as a transport
Anthony (Tony) Cordesman has passed away
I became aware of his dual existence a few years ago, after having read some articles in Foreign Affairs magazines and TAS.  R.I.P.
Starting a Classical Vinyl Music Collection
while vinyl has unquestionably resurged, the factors that led to its decline are still present. A poor quality lp that was issued half a century ago doesn’t improve with use and ageing. What has changed is analog equipment quality . One needs ...
Starting a Classical Vinyl Music Collection
It is an unreasonable expectation that lps of several decades vintage are going to sound pristinely quiet, regardless of cleaning machine.  Many of these were manufactured with inferior vinyl in the first place, as the energy crisis and other fact...
Starting a Classical Vinyl Music Collection
In my adolescence when I caught the Classical Music bug I listened to the radio a lot and then would explore stuff that struck my fancy.  It should be easier to do this now with streaming, and much harder if one is sticking purely to vinyl as a pl...
What is going on here? Streamer or DAC?
OP   you didn’t mention the brand of your current gear, but I had a very similar problem to yours with a Bluesound Node2 that was the same vintage as yours, and of course out of warranty.  Bluesound wasn’t helpful after a Herculean effort to get...
