Streamers - Cocktail Audio & Mytek Brooklyn No experience with Cocktail. I use Bluesound and like it very much
Digital media server/players for a Skeptic? . I don't think it should be necessary to be an IT expert to have to enjoy listening to music. I have the Bluesound system, which is a Server and a whole home system. It isn't entirely hassle free but is a lot easier that computer audio, which I...
"Best" Beethoven 9 Symphonies Recording, Digital A lot of choices. Szell is excellent and dirt cheap. The venerable Krips/LSO cycle was recorded on 35 mm (film) tape and sounds great in current remastering. The Von Karajan 1963 cycle is a classic and sounds great on Blu Ray. More modern well...
The "Digital" listening experience OP I have no idea what you are talking about. Poor and great performances are independent of playback media. To take your example of Schubert's Trout Quintet, I fell in love with that work 40 years ago with an lp titled 'Music From Marlboro ' le...
The demise of the music CD inevitable? sorry, above, I meant to say that I am listening to a 24 bit stream currently...
The demise of the music CD inevitable? I I personally would rather have a tooth extracted without anesthesia than spend another minute of my life faffing around high Res downloads.streaming otoh, is a different story. I am listening to a high Res download right now of a disc that own...
FLAC On A Mac Ok we are going to the Mac store today as my wife is disgusted with the performance of her 8 year old MabBook Pro since loading El Capitan. I will ask the people there, though the drop off in Quality of the in store help over the past several ye...
High Quality Universal Player?? I've had Universal Players through the years from Marantz, Denon, Oppo, and NAD. My advice would be to have a really good DAC for CD. There are at least 2 DACs that have HDMI inputs which you could use with a BD player for SACD and Blu Ray (NAD ...
Oops, HOUSE FLOOD!! Audiophile vinyl collection got soaked. Where do we go from here? Sorry about your loss.My lps were ruined in a house flood on August 6, 1985. I remember the date because my wife had a C section that day. I was in Grad school, broke, couldn't replace any of them. There were no second hand stores selling lps t...
Tidal on Oppo 105 I have both the 105 and the Mytek Manhatten. Since adding the Mytek the Oppo has mainly become a transport. The Mytek Brooklyn is cheaper and does MQA, if you care. Tidal is supposed to be adding MQA files.
Options for full-featured music servers/streamers? The Bluesound Node 2 does indeed have it 's own DAC.i control my system with an I pad but have a friend who uses a $50.00 Amazon Kindle to control his.Using a tablet helps view your library and make playlists
Options for full-featured music servers/streamers? Bluesound.if you liked Olive, you will love Bluesound.customer service has been good, the company is a joint venture of NAD and PSB, both of whom have been around for decades, and the stuff is reasonably priced. They also support MQA, if that matters
New blog post on the world of portable hi res audio To each his own. I don't want to stop anyone from enjoying a portable system in preference to a more conventional system. However, in the recent past I have experimented with different buds, high end phones, headphone amps, for I never will see ...
MQA - One Filter to Rule them All? I didn't think that Stereophile's latest was nearly as orgasmic sounding about MQA as Robert Harley at TAS. If MQA bombs, Harley really ought to leave the business after such shameless shilling. My take on MQA is that it is a high Res format tha...
help a Die hard ANALOG guy choose a budget CDP I'll be the outlier here. I've dabbled in Computer Audio, and currently use a Bluesound whole home system. I still get my greatest enjoyment from popping a disc into a transport, sending it to a DAC, and enjoy! No operating system hassles, no D... |
