Roon Nucleus
Just saw the May 2018 issue of hi fi + featuring a review of the Nucleus by Chris Matthews.”I had been running the Roon software...for over a year now and one of the issues has been that running it requires a decent amount of processing power.  A ...
OPPO or Something Else?
There are other Universal Players out there that might be worth investigating, especially as transports.  Sony makes one for around $400.  Video performance is supposed to play well but audio (per reviews, I haven’t heard it myself)  supposedly la...
Audio improvement for OPPO 205
I don’t own a 205, but I have a 105 and a 203, both of which are set to output DSD from SACD.  I didn’t even know that outputting PCM was an option, but there are some DACs that will only do DSD over PCM so perhaps that is the reason.  My DAC is a...
Roon Nucleus
I am glad that there are a lot of happy Roon users out there.  All I’m saying is that I seem to suspect that there also people like me, where it doesn’t so smoothly....it’s a big mother of a program, after all.  And I still haven’t seen an explana...
Do Macs Play FLAC?
Oh, that’s a different issue, I was asking if the hardware was capable at all of playing FLAC.  I couldn’t merge my files into iTunes on the Mac either, although they seemlessly merge on the NAS and play back via iTunes..Have you called Apple supp...
Roon Nucleus
I ditched analog completely but that’s another discussion...I have been using Bluesound for the past 2 years, Node and Vault, but have found it almost as buggy as iTunes on a PC, and the Blue OS App is nothing special, essentially mimicking iTunes...
want to ditch my Brooklyn to streamer..thoughts?
I basically second the others here.  I have the Mytek Manhattan and the Bluesound Node 2 and Vault 2.  There is no comparison between the DACs in the Mytek v. Bluesound isn’t even close, nor should it be.  The Manhatten is a dedicated DAC that goe...
Do Macs Play FLAC?
Ripped another disc in FLAC and it plays on the Mac@25105 are you trying to play from a NAS?
Do Macs Play FLAC?
Ignore the above...just figured out that with dbpoweramp The files get stored in the Music part of the Mac, and from there have to be moved to the NAS.  I will rip some more discs in FLAC (I had changed the codec to Apple Lossless to see if that w...
Do Macs Play FLAC?
The plot thickens.  I just downloaded the Mac version of dbpoweramp and attempted to rip 2 albums in FLAC.  They haven’t shown up on the NAS (or on the SSD of the Mac) One possibility is that I’ve not used the software correctly.  The other is th...
Paul Hynes Excuses to deliver the power supply SR7 , I Lost my money
Glad you ultimately had an acceptable outcome but that is a long time for someone to hold your money.  And what gives with the critics of the OP?  Bad vendors need to be outed, and in as many places as possible
Do Macs Play FLAC?
@ghosthouse The most recent iTunes version, because I just did an update about a week ago.
Classical music on demand?
I found Primephonic inadequate due to limited catalog.  Quobuz will be here in the fall, supposedly, and then that will be the best High Res Classical Streaming Service.  Tidal is awful for Classical
Do Macs Play FLAC?
@2psyop i understand what you said, but the point is that I am playing FLAC through iTunes.  I am also running a trial of Audirvana Plus, but the files played before I added this, and if I disable Audirvana they still play through iTunes
