SACD
Classical Music has kept SACD from total extinction.  In the rest of the music genres, it doesn’t have much of a presence
Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm...."
What does the OP expect in terms of return?  All gear depreciates over time.  CDPs are more prone to depreciation due to concerns about the laser.  How long does he expect to use the piece before selling it ?  Does he expect to own it for one year...
Marantz Receiver Bad HDMI
I had the same problem with a “slim line” Marantz receiver that I bought for use in my den about  10 years ago.  HDMI  kept going out.  I used it for a couple of years with other inputs and then the power amp section died.  Around the same time I ...
Classical, Rock, Jazz etc. are your tastes evolving with time?
Mostly it’s Classical for me.  My latest interest is discovering Non Serial Composers from the mid20th Century, many of whom wrote Film as well as Concert Music, such as William Alwyn, Nino Rota, and others. When I do listen to pop Music it’s usual...
DACs for older gear
HDMI inputs are relatively rare in “High End” gear .  I bought the Bryston DAC 3 because it offered HDMI inputs.  Before that I experimented using an older AVR in my two channel system as a preamp, with digital out to my power Amp.  Since the powe...
DACs for older gear
For two channel, I use a Bryston DAC3 with my Oppo 105 and send DSD over HDMI.Multichannel DACs are another kettle of fish.  I would check out Kal Rubinson’s columns over the past few years in Stereophile and the exesound brand
NAS for audiophlie?
I use Synology.  It seems ok but I haven’t compared NAS.  Melco is supposed to be the Audiophile Approved brand
Cd disc changers.
I also have a Sony but not the carousel, I think it’s the 5400 ES.  I t hasn’t played a disc in 6 months or so.  It sounds great via HDMI into my Bryston DAC-3 but I have an Opportunity 105 in the system doing the same thing, so it’s redundant.  K...
Why does my old CD player sound so much better than my new streamer?
Some CD players can sound pretty good, either as transports into DAC or using their own DAC section.  The simple answer to the OP is that the DAC of the CDP is sounding better to him than the DAC in the streamer.  End of mystery
Amazon Launches Lossless "Hi-rez" HD Music Service
Mofi most of my Bluesound issues related to not all 4 of my units in the house successfully updating in sync.  The Bluesound updates were frequent and occasionally one player would get hung up.  That somehow led to all of the players failing, and ...
Any good DAC do SACD/DSD 5.0?
Multichannel DACs are a rare thing

Uber...do you still have your Bluesound equipment?  I’m guessing not or you would have tried it by now.  I upgraded to the Bryston BDA3 for my main system but there is no Amazon tab as of yet.  I still have my Bluesound equipment (mainly using the...

How important is a preamp for purely digital sources?
I would put the money into getting a good DAC, since the DAC in the Node2i is nothing special.  Many DACs can be digital pre amps.  My personal experience was when my Mytek Manhattan DAC was doubling as a pre amp when the latter was having a minor...

I am on vacation now and so I will have to wait until I return to try it on my Bluesound gear.  I currently stream Qobuz through Bluesound and it’s a very good quality but I find subtle differences between that and both CD replay or ripped CDs pla...
