Mytek Brooklyn - What is an actual upgrade?
I use a Bryston DAC3 which can be had , at least before Trump’s trade wars, for about 3K.  I used it with a Manhatten I for about 2 years before selling off the Mytek.  They are definitely different sounding DACs.  Honestly, it’s an opinion, nothi...
SACD Multichannel player - $400 budget
Sony had a Universal Player in that range
Reference Recordings only doing hybrid cd/sacd now, sad I'm gone.
If you feel that strongly about I would switch to downloads for RR.  I just remembered that I purchased the Opera Dances disc as a download from HD Tracks and it is terrific
'Unlistenable' early digital recordings?
My favorite Organ Symphony is the old Paray/Detroit version. Many DG recordings were indeed hard to take in their early digital incarnations, especially Wilhelm Kempff records, but I still prefer them to vinyl. On the whole, early CD remasterings fo...

Does RR issue downloads?
Newbie question about Vault 2i
Not sure I understand the question in the last post...
Powered Speakers, does your streamer matter?
I can’t answer since I don’t have powered speakers, but fwiw I would think that as with any audio component since different streamers have different audio signatures, it ought to matter considerably.  My newest streamer is a Bryston BDP3, which so...
'Unlistenable' early digital recordings?
I’m with Eric.  Upgrading my DAC solved the problem.
Qobuz Users Update?
you are asking the key question ...do Qobuz and perhaps Tidal introduce low levels of compression even in their premium services?  Btw, I rip my files to my NAS with dbpoweramp, using an Apple Optical Drive and the aforementioned MacAir, and rip ...
Qobuz Users Update?
I use Ethernet and therefore no stability issues, nor did I mention any in my last post.  I am simply talking about comparing the sound directly, into the same input of my DAC, using the Bluesound Node as a player, of how one recording sounded whe...
Who is an audiphile? In 1957 they were builders, not buyers
I wouldn’t want to be in 1957.  Even the midfi  gear of today will blow away the Premium gear back then, not to mention work more reliably.  And more importantly, the choice of music available for listening is much better.  No rose colored idyllic...
What is the best BNC Digital Cable under $4,000?
I’ve noticed slight, barely perceptible effects of Digital cables but in my limited comparisons it seemed that the ceiling for improvement was quickly reached.  Audioquest cables that cost perhaps five times the price of a generic cable worked as ...
Qobuz Users Update?
We took a long car trip last weekend.  The Qobuz app on my Android Phone did not work well.  My wife likes Neal Diamond and we were attempting to play a greatest Hits collection but no matter what track I selected it would only play the same one—“...
Ordered a Roon Nucleus Plus
My only PC at present (I use tablets for every thing else) is an 8 year old Mac Air and when I did the Roon free trial it was a disaster.  It took over a day to load initially, and then about 3 days later it stalled and overheated so I deleted Roo...
Music lover or audiophile?
OPI guess I never of had the experience of getting so wrapped up in the gear issues that I couldn’t enjoy the music because I was obsessing to much about deficiencies in the playback experience.  You seem to have been unfortunately afflicted in th...
