MQA and classical music
I did a Tidal trial and sampled Classical pieces.  I was limited to my Bluesound Node2 for MQA, as my better DACs did not have MQA capability.  I couldn’t notice any difference.  Perhaps a better DAC would revealed something slight improvement for...
Time for a new a/v receiver could use some input!
I went “down” in power from a 130 watt AVR to 100 watts with the 520 and didn’t notice any issue.  And with room correction and enhanced DAC the sound was a huge upgrade from my previous Onkyo AVR
What is the best digital recording of Saint-Saëns’ 3rd Violin Concerto?
I checked ArkivMusik.  Two Francescatti recordings listed, both in mono.Primephonic has a pretty limited catalog.  Perhaps you can download one of the Francescatti recordings if you don’t want a CD.  I see that Julia Fisher and Vengerov have both ...
Best CD of Rachmaninoff's Third Piano C
Interesting about the Ann Arbor connection.  I heard Horowitz and Ormandy/Philly do the piece in the late seventies at the May Festival, which was Horowitz second concert after a long retirement; the first was the Concert in New York from which th...

Is Zino  Francescatti still available?
Streamers with best apps?
MazianPerhaps I wasn’t sufficiently clear, Tidal app SUCKS with Classical which I had thought was a major interest of yours.  Every other streaming app is better
Best CD of Rachmaninoff's Third Piano C
I haven’t heard to many new recordings over the last 15 years or so.The first criteria should be, which cadenza?  Rach wrote a short and a longer one.  For me the longer, stormer one is essential, the emotional heart of the piece.  The famous Horo...
Streamers with best apps?
I think Qobuz works well on the BluOS.  For me the experience is equal to using the Qobuz stand alone app on my Android phone

OPwhy are you looking at the Anthem. MRX 720 when you have a 5.1 setup?  You are wasting around $500.  The 520 sounds great, especially with the room correction software
Streamers with best apps?
From the above post by amg56“...CD’s backed up on a local hard dick (typically 2TB)...”His streamer offers more features than mine.My experience with Idagio was that it had a very limited catalog.  For example, it may offer 5 versions of a Brahms ...
Streamers with best apps?
Finding a good streamer for Classical Music is well near impossible, imo.  The best classification for classical that I have seen turns out to be itunes.  I also use Bluesound OS, which looks terrible unless you compare with my latest streamer, Br...
Best Sounding Bruckner Recordings
I know that Klemperer was dismissive of Walter and his emoting (Klemperer is reported to have described his Mahler as “too Jewish”), but when I think of an “objective “ Conductor Pierre Boulez comes to mind.  Klemperer seems to have had some int...
Options for converting CD rips
I haven’t done much with trying to convert mp3 back to lossless, but I did experiment with one program a few years ago and couldn’t perceive any difference after doing the “conversion”.  My gut feeling is once you have stored the files as mp3 the...
Audioengine B1 Bluetooth - Really Surprised
I had bought one at the time this thread was created and put in in a downstairs system.  I listen to Classical Music but use the AE primarily for pop.  When my wife and I are in the mood for some classic rock it was just so easy to pull out the ph...
Best Sounding Bruckner Recordings
@edgewearI just streamed the Klemperer 7&8 via Qobuz.  They are very good, but I find many of the same issues that bedevil many of  Klemperer’s Beethoven and Mozart recordings from the same era have, namely some rhythmic inflexibility and  sor...
