I listened to Jascha Horenstein conduct Brahms3 with the Southwestern German Orchestra. On a Pristine Audio restoration of a late mono era Vox recording.  I’ve had the Vox for years though I haven’t played it that often.  The Pristine enhancement ...
Bob Seger live albums
I grew up in Detroit.  Seeger actually played at a Bar Mitzvah I attended as a 13 year old when he and his band were at a low point.  A few years later after still failing to catch on nationally he released Live Bullet.  To me the vibe of this alb...
Dvorak Cello Concerto
@melm I heard Weilerstein and the Czech PO perform the piece in Chicago, with Bychkov conducting, as Behlolavak had passed away.  Aural memories can fail us, but I think the Decca recording is very faithful to a concert perspective .   Starker ha...

Or a duet with Paul McCartney “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?”
Dvorak Cello Concerto
I couldn’t remember the name of the WDR before…thank you for jogging the memory bank.   @melm i couldn’t tell if your comment was serious or questioning.  I will say that the newish Weilerstein will take a lot to beat in the Sonics department.  De...
Dvorak Cello Concerto
As I understand it there are 2 major Orchestras in Cologne.  One is the Gurzenich Orchestra, and the other has I think undergone a name change in the relatively recent past.  Then of course there are he Period Groups, such as Musica Antiqua Koln a...
Dvorak Cello Concerto
I saw Weilerstein as well, but Muller-Schott would have been interesting
Dvorak Cello Concerto
I’ll have to listen to DuPre again.  My recollection is that Barenboim spends a lot of energy over emoting .

Dvorak Cello Concerto
I have the Mercury Starker, both in SACD and in stereo from one of the big Mercury box reissues.  It is hugely enjoyable.  Ultimately I prefer players with a bigger tone, such as Gendron and Weilerstein
Dvorak Cello Concerto
Gastinel seems to have recorded a lot but Qobuz doesn’t list a Dvorak recording. And as for Gendron, Qobuz lists the Rostropovich/Richter Beethoven Sonata set under his name
Dvorak Cello Concerto
I didn’t realize that Gendron had made those other recordings.  I had worked in a record store in Ann Arbor in college that claimed to carry every recording in print and could scarcely find any Gendron but I ought to try that newfangled Internet. ...
How can I add MQA decoding with my current setup?
I spent a couple of hours at my dealer listening to several recordings that I knew really well with Roon and MQA.  I was very familiar with all of the equipment used except the amplification, which was McIntosh.  There were 2 pieces where I slight...
Multi-Channel Integrated?
OP poses an interesting question that I have wondered about myself.  In theory the only difference between a multichannel integrated and AVR is the presence of an analog tuner in the AVR.  Streamers usually handle the Internet Radio end of things ...
