Which Universal Remote to Use?
no delicacy issues
New preamps making new claims.
I have a new Cary SLP98p f-1 version and I love it. But since it's all hand wired, point to point, with NOS tubes, I guess the only new thing really is the power supply, the rest could be from 1955, so............BTW, GM and Ford cars are much bet...
Life without a remote
There is no life without a good remote. I am trying to write a Marcro right now that will operate my turntable, it could take a while.
Suggestions on a Musical, Full Range Speaker
I love those Dynaudios too, Sapphires, very nice. In your range I think you have to test drive the Quad 2905, they are truly sublime and would match very well with your already excellent gear. Also, check out the Linn Accurates.Good luck, post som...
Why not use mains as centers
I helped a buddy set up a great home theater, with a lot of room, and we actually used a pair of Magnepan MMG's because he had the space and an extra pair, man they sound great. We had no interference problems, and actually just split the signal w...
lps from "classic records" as awesome as axis bold
You know I have just gotten into vinyl again, and I cannot believe how much better the new vinyl is than the old. I am playing a 180g Kind of Blue right now that is sublime. But I just took off a Madman Across the Water, that was cleaned, no scrat...
Speakers that can be placed against the wall?
If you want to start in high end, get the Magnepan's. The MMG-W sold direct, if you check out the reviews, you will be shocked that any consumer item can be so universally praised. Also, they are dirt cheap. A half-way decent subwoofer is s must w...
Krell VS McIntosh
depends on the speakers you are driving with them, what type of music you listen to, and what the upstream gear is.
Musical yet Detailed DAC Around $700
add the Benchmark (without the usb), TADAC, and MHDT Labs Paridesa or Havana to your list. I really liked the PS Audio, and I now have the Havana and love it.
Sub-woofer/ Source for MAgnepan MG 1.6s
When I had 1.6's I bought a Velodyne DD12 and it rocked the house. Innersound ESL amp, and the Velodyne which set itself up to cross over at about 51hz if I remember correctly. It measured the 1.6's to about 44hz in my room, that was a great sub, ...
Life without a remote
After contemplating this topic for hours, I believe life is not worth living without a remote, and a good one at that.
Is it good to drive the magnepan 3.6?
Ahh, I forgot, because I only had it for a short time, the Musical Fidelity NuVista power amp. So that's the 12th one. I didn't like it with the Maggies. I sold it to a buddy with Linn speakers and it sounded great. I think he still has it, they a...
Is it good to drive the magnepan 3.6?
1) NAD 218 THX (not enough juice)2) Parasound 3500 (lots of power, a bit bright)3) Parasound A21 (v nice, warm, full)4) Parasound JC1's (sublime, very full rich sound)5) Innersound ESL 300 (massive power, never runs out, very detailed, great match...
Is it good to drive the magnepan 3.6?
Actually, 500w is about the minimum that I have used that will open up Maggies. As any Maggie owner will tell you, "more is better" as far as power goes. Now, I have not used the Classe's before, but I would suggest using them in a mono configurat...
Life without a remote
It can no longer be done. We have evolved too far beyond the caveman days of no remote.
