What's wrong with Velodyne?
I still think the DD15 I used to have was the best all around sub I have ever owned. Better than the JL Audio 113 I had, and better, albiet much more expensive, all around than my current SVS PC Ultra. I have it set up a bit differently and love t...
avr receiver help
in that price range I would recommend the Denon 3808ci that I have. It's excellent, great sound, lots of options, much easier than the previous generation user interface.
Why not use mains as centers
OK, tried the "phantom" center yesterday, and I hate to say this, but it didn't sound good at all. Very hollow sounding, I tried some other setting changes, but just turning the center on again was a huge improvment. Since I don't listen to multi ...
idler wheel vs direct drive technics impressions
K, love the string except the analogy with the modified Mustang GT. My last car was an 06 Porche Carrara 4s, after having to have it in the shop all the time, and getting blown away by supped up Mustangs, I sold the Porche, bought a Cadillac CTS t...
Best universal player under $1000?
You can buy a Denon 5910ci used for about $1000 right now, that's a no brainer great buy if you still use discs.
IYO, Best speaker for rock music under $1k
I second Elevick's recommendation. I would add Definitive Technologies 7004 tower with the powered sub built in. Bought used of course. They rock.

Music server interface suggestions
Yes the iPhone/touch will control, as will your universal remote. Also, the AppleTV will take content off of all of your iTunes accounts, I think up to 5, and stream them wirelessly. I love mine, I switched from a MacMini because the interface was...
Music server interface suggestions
Why would look at a MacMini and not the AppleTV? Cheaper, and does exactly what you want.
The best speaker you ever heard?
Talking my book right now, but after going to a couple of audio shops in the last week, I think my Maggie 3.6R's are the best speakers I have ever heard. I am loving my set up right now. I'm not even thinking of changing anything out! Wow, I need ...
Is it good to drive the magnepan 3.6?
Herman, I went to grad school at Rice and we had an honor system for exams, so I am going to ask to bring mine home!I think this has been my favorite string to watch over the last week, maybe better than the election as far as banter back and forth.

Is it good to drive the magnepan 3.6?
I know this was a question about amps for Maggies and how they sound, but I am now afraid that I need to take notes for an upcoming exam. Will we be able to use our notes on the exam, and do we have to show our work??
Why not use mains as centers
All I know, is that where I have set it up, it sounded fantastic. Not sure of the physics behind it, but the 2 MMG's emitting the center works very well in a home theater I set up for someone in my neighborhood, who didn't want to give up his MMG's.
