How do you know if you need to add a sub (without auditioning one, I mean)?
Hey, Bruce. I am eternally grateful. I won’t forget you.I was researching subs and decided that if I gathered enough extra bucks, I’d start with a used SVS PB3000 and take it from there. We have a large, cathedral ceilinged, complex room or I’d ai...

I’m sorry, first poster. Add an S to the word sub.

OP here. Thanks for the responses so far. Is there a consensus as to how much one needs to spend to get a decent sub that really makes a difference? I’m not saying I want to spend the bare minimum, I’m just interested in a basic parameter.
Us: hobbyists vs perfectionists vs aural epicureans vs rampant consumers vs bad Buddhists?
Me too. It's easier than some of the rest.

I’m sorry. Apparently, I misunderstood. To reiterate, I’m happy to hear your views whether I disagree with them or not.

MC:OP here.I appreciate your sharing your point of view on this thread the same as I appreciate all the point of views that have been offered, but, at the risk of riling you up, I would ask you to try to be civil when you feel triggered or upset b...

I tell people all the time that there are no thought police. Are they lurking here? Am I wrong? Do I have to start thinking pure, grade A Buddhist thoughts--no longer craving for my system to be other than it is? After all, everything is perfect j...
ATC SCM150 (or JBL Synthesis) (or JBL vintage) (or new Klipsch Jubilee)
As I read your posts, it seems to me that you would prefer an ATC and you are looking for validation and support that this would be a good choice. Perhaps I’m mistaken.I love the ATC signature sound, even though I have not heard the big ones that ...
ATC Scm 19 V1 Upgrade or what?
An additional thought. While some might prefer the extra detail in the 19s, many would agree that the 40s represent an overall improvement to the sound, depending, of course, on the room and all the other variables. This strikes me as a valid poin...
ATC Scm 19 V1 Upgrade or what?
From the OP's post, I assume he means a wholistic or general improvement to SQ (to his ears). Sure, some of us could better help him if he had something specific in mind, but I know my orientation/understanding doesn't always afford that when I as...
ATC Scm 19 V1 Upgrade or what?
I agree with VV. I think your best bet is to go to the passive SCM 40 V2 with the ATC amp you already have. It will be just fine driving the bigger speaker.
New-ish to Audiogon Forums... Is it always like this?
Having asked quite a few of them, now I consider inane or unanswerable questions to be potential entryways into a dialogue that has a good chance to transform into something useful to both parties. On the receiving end of the help, the gain is obv...
Proportion of expenses
I vote for speaker first, and amp second, and then whatever. Personally, my speakers are worth more than twice as much as my amp.
A bit of an epiphany...with humble embarrassment
had a similar experience, as well. In my case one of the speakers seemed to be weaker in volume because of how the soundstage was skewed. But when I held a DBI app on my phone in front of each speaker, the loudness was actually the same. It turns ...
How does my MF A308 compare to modern integrated amps in the $3000-$6000 range?
Cool.
