Speaker question
My experience is not that they’re not bad at low volume, but that they get really good at higher volumes, creating a contrast that makes them seem a little worse than they really are. In general, any speaker with a flat approach, with no bass boos...
Speaker question
A couple of the benefits of the ATC’s, and I have the SCM 40 V2, is that they are not picky about placement and they’re quite good off axis. So without knowing your situation, I don’t know if these things matter to you, but they mattered to me. in...
How does speaker placement affect the width of the soundstage?
Thanks, all.

ATCs are known for their off axis sound. Sealed box.
Old phones as streaming sources
I use an old decommissioned iPhone in my car, sending downloaded Deezer through the lightening jack to my car’s DAC. I’m happy with it. Any additional benefit would be lost in that environment anyway.
Steve Guttenberg reviews an ATC active?
I think the current price for the SCM 40 passives is a great value. Compare it to what else you can get for that price.

ATC SCM40
I love mine. Ask me more about them if you have specific questions.
What to ask when buying used speakers?
If you decide to go used, I suggest engaging in a back and forth with the seller over some related matter--or even the weather wherever the seller is. Then decode his responses in terms of what kind of personality you're dealing with. Get a savvy ...
TV Based System - Hifi vs. Studio Monitors
I agree with Soix. I’ve got an optical connection to an R2R dac to ATC speakers. It works. Most TV is midrange and they excel at that.
Speakers - Your "Safest" Choice
For rock? Big ATCs.
My speaker upgrade journey - and a few questions
I have passive SCM 40s, a Musical Fidelity A308 integrated, a Moon Mind 2 streamer, and a Pontus 2 DAC. I’m very happy with my system. The A308 line is great value, including their preamp. The integrated puts out 150 watts. I don’t think you’d wa...
What are your exact settings for volume and low pass filter on your SVS sub?
Thanks, all.
What are your exact settings for volume and low pass filter on your SVS sub?
Original poster here. We're starting to get a lot of variety now. I forgot to mention I have a bright, large, complex room and I listen to a variety of musical genres and route films through my system. If I turn up the volume past -18 or so, ther...
