Record Storage Temperature
Temperature won’t be an issue. I would however be concerned about humidity possibly affecting album covers.
What do you do when you inherit some gear that you don’t want.
Personally where I live I rely on UPS rather than FedEx as locally the FedEx delivery personnel are independent contractors the majority of whom don’t even follow simple basic procedures such as backing into a delivery location which is standard f...
HOW TO CHOOSE A SPEAKER CABLE?
+1 for Jpan. There are so many variables that you need to try them in your system. Some people state that power cables are the most likely to improve a system but my experience is I start with the speaker cables then the interconnects followed by ...
Most underrated female recording artists..
If you haven’t listened to Melody Gardot or Lissie you might want to give them a try.
Best Dedicated Streamer
I have had 3 Wolf Audio streamers in my system as I moved up the line to the Red Wolf. You cannot beat their customer service and product quality. I still purchase music so having the ability to rip music was important to me as was being able to s...
Are you discovering new music?
I got into this hobby because of music and eventually became an audiophile but I am constantly looking for new music. There is so much good music that it is disconcerting sometimes as to how much I have missed whether new or old. Lately , my favor...
What's going on with the used audio gear market?
+1 testpilot If they can get their asking price well good for them even if it is high. As you move up in the price range and the item is fairly new I can see asking more than 50%. I see ads for gear that is less than a year old that are asking mor...
For those of you who had spent over hundred thousand dollars for your sound system.
Like a lot of previous posters I have spent many years getting my system to where it is now. It is somewhere north of $100K but less than $200K. It does sound fabulous as it should but depending upon what you want to do it isn’t as simple as tappi...
Beware of scam listings - users now have positive feedback.
I have reported very questionable listings to Audiogon in the past and each time they have taken the ads down. Having said that sometimes people need to make a quick sale or they don’t research used pricing. You can protect yourself with PayPal as...
Which component to upgrade 1st ?
It depends on what you listen to the most ; digital or analog. If you predominantly listen to digital put your money there and the same goes for analog.
Name this wonderful system
Very nice clean looking system. I will not judge a systems sound quality based upon YouTube sound.
Would you spend you money on modest brand new car or rather buy top notch vintage one?
I have a buddy who is into vintage muscle cars. I have heard his horror stories about breakdowns. In my vehicles as well as my stereo system I want reliability. I have had friends over for a listening session and had something go on the fritz and ...
Michael Fremer leaves Analog Planet
I am a fan of MF and anyone who enjoys vinyl should appreciate what he has done to resurrect the medium. Most of the gear he has reviewed the last few years has been out of my price range but I still read the reviews anyways.
Nordost Valhalla 2 - Susceptible to Noise?
Not in the same league but I had a pair of Nordost Red Dawn ribbon interconnects and if you tapped on them , I could hear the tapping through my speakers so obviously they were susceptible to vibration.
For you Odyssey Audio Stratos amp owners
I purchased a pair of used Stratos a few years ago on Audiogon. Klaus upgraded them to Kismet References. My preamp is a Cary Audio SLP -05. I also have a pair of Cary Founder’s edition amps. Odyssey Audio punches well above its asking price. One ...
