Don't waste money on ultrasonic RCMs
Based on this video, I’ve decided to wash my truck with Lava Soap.  And steel wool. I’m sure it wil be super clean. And I can be rid of that pesky clear coat.
Is a GREAT turntable under $2000 possible???
If you haven’t committed to the Lehman yet you might consider an upgraded Jolida JD9. A few more dollars and a bit hard to find used, but it gives you a huge range of loading options and sounds great.sweet and detailed-both.
What Matters and What is Nonsense
Amg56. Guess you missed the point. I did my test with the intention of  hearing the entirety of my family of upgrades removed to judge the overall effectiveness of the lot of them.  It was more than a bit biased by expectation I suppose, but did s...

Not sure what happened there...iPad freaked
What Matters and What is Nonsense
Inspirational!i was so moved by the anti tweak commentary, I spent three hours taking my system back to factory default (as much as I could, wasn’t going to pull the mods out of the phono pre). RadioShack ic’s and zipcord went in though.  .rega ba...

Talk but not walk?
Verbose technical debates...aren’t we talking about listening to music?  Measurements and theories are essential to providers in this field, true. They need such things for development and deployment ..when done for other listeners.  But for the e...
Does anyone leave their amp and preamp on all the time?
I leave gear on all the time...with a bit of guilt, I admit.  Odyssey amp takes hours to reach its best. Candela too, and since it’s a hybrid with very low plate voltage, tube wear is a very small concern.  Jolida phono pre-  same story. Btw, even...
Mono Blocks on a Budget, is it possible?
+1 for Odyssey. Haven’t heard anything in that price range that can match ‘em. The quality and care that goes into them is equal to some very expensive gear.
Dynamics varying with track position.
Alignment checked out with the DB so I  began trying antiskate changes. The issue cleared up entirely.  Oddly the best result comes from nearly 0 antiskate on the Rega.  I suspect the magnet/ slider is seriously miscalibrated. Since it’s sounding ...
Dynamics varying with track position.
Thanks for the insight. I’ll check the alignment with a dB systems available to me. If I don’t get improvement I’ll spring for a mirror alignment tool. The azimuth adjustment is tough with the rega arm. Any reason to suspect it’s off?
Gotta love Nelson Pass
Ran an Adcom 555 for many years before I could afford to move on, bullet proof, clean and adaptable to many systems. Just great midfi that brought many hours of music. Nothing like it for the money, I’d say.
Has a component ever changed your focus?
tzh... bass is one of the best aspects of this cart in my system.  warm, defined; largely because the lower midrange, which give bass its, flavor is so clean on this thing.I've been trying 100 and 300 ohms for a few days each.  Finding 100 a bit s...

Invictus—. To each their own.. that’s the joy of this stuff.  I set up the black meticulously..and I’ve been doing this for 40 years. I just don’t like it. I do take exception with one thing though... no component ‘walks all over’ any other. There...
Two Type of sound and listener preference are there more?
I’m most definitely in the second category.  And more so with the changes I’ve made to my system. As a long time professional fine art photographer, I’ve often wrestled with the issue of ‘accurate reproduction’ of reality. Finally understanding th...
