Is it possible to have vinyl nearly noise free?
I suggest the critics of the SugarCube ought to put it to the test. I have one on a reasonably resolving system.  Even at a  relatively high setting there  is virtually no effect on music.   And a phenomenal reduction and pops and clicks. ..It can...
What is an Audiophile? Here's the list for newbies.
Hey, can I play with the big kids if I’m just a music-ophile?I spend more on music than equipment.  Am I out of the club?
How many audiophiles do you need to change a lightbulb?
You’ve got to go out and see light live before you can appreciate  reproduced light. it’s all about the light.
Ask the local curmudgeon (me) anything related to tech or liquor. :)
Clearthink...is it not interesting that many of the greatest artists and scientific minds in history have been passionate advocates for various, some would say liberating, intoxicants?Grab a drink, you might learn something.  Or maybe even relax a...
Who makes great active preamps ? Tube or solid state or hybrid.
Got to add, dollar for $. Klaus’ Candela is far better than it ought to be at 1600.00.  I’ve not heard anything at that price point that can compete.  Tube access notwithstanding.
I’m gob smacked. What were you’re aha moments?
There certainly have been several really excellent milestones. Like going from a Khartago to I Kismet Reference from Odyssey. But sometimes it’s a small change, usually inexpensive, that makes an unexpectedly great change in SQ. ...Herbies decoup...
Why so many used focals?
Just enjoying new aria 936’s. I audition a fair no of speakers in the price range and several quite a bit more. The Focals have, IMO, the most balanced and uncolored sound anywhere near their price point. They are very sensitive to good amplificat...
Break in blues
I assume break-in  naysayers are exempting speakers from their skepticism? Mechanical changes and the forming of crossover capacitors are not ‘in your head’.  Driver motors clearly break in  at a declining rate, but they do change.  It’s measurabl...
Best Phone Stage for under $1,000.000
Another vote for the Jd9.  Out of The box it’s pretty good; with great tubes (brimar), modified caps and op amps... way above what you’d expect at the price point.   A bit much on the gain, so a quality attenuator helps a lot.
if I buy an ultrasonic cleaner for my records will I be able to hear the difference?
+1 pbnaudioi have the same set up. It’s made 40 year old lps, that I took great care of from day one, come to life. Who knew what micro dirt could take out of the music?amazingflea market records can still disappoint, but not nearly as often. Make...
Another basic newbie question.

So what’s the future look like
yes it is easy to think, in part, that  the price of entry that keeps young people out.  I really thought so just a couple of days ago.  then my son showed me what he and his girlfriend could pull together with 1700.00   some used, some new  some ...
So what’s the future look like
Obviously typing on a phone is not my strong suit.
So what’s the future look like
Unlike my employee, my kids do hear the difference.  I think In part they’re intimidated by the cost of even midfi theses days.  So they think of good reproduction as something for someday down the road.
So what’s the future look like
I should add.. my kids have the broadest taste in music I could imagine(though broad within rock and pop, my jazz intrigues them bit just for the moment)theyre beginnong  to get Hi-Fi and why it matters... but they seem to be the exception amongst...
