Isolation Feet Upgrade I guess I screwed up. I'll take another look. Thanks @nonoise
Isolation Feet Upgrade @nonoise .It's funny, after going to your link I remembered I tried them a few years ago. I put them under a heavy amp and they completely compressed. So I would need footers that have weight ratings. But thanks for the reply.
Cary 300 integrated, Devore speakers It's possible that he rates his speakers conservatively, but the real advantage to Devore's speakers is the high and relatively flat impedance curve. In independent testing I've never seen his tower speakers perform higher than the rated sensitivi...
Footers Under Power Conditioners? @ozzy Have you noticed any additional improvement in the Niagara now that the CM's have settled in?I'm still looking for something to go under my conditioner. I now have a Core Power EquiCore and DeepCore stack, about 80 lbs.I still believe the ri...
Isolation Feet Upgrade I just checked the AV Room Service site and the EVP's have doubled in price. Now I'm thinking about trying the Iso Acoustics under my power conditioner. It weighs about 80 pounds and I'll need four. Can anybody recommend a set that will work and no...
Balanced vs. Unbalanced Inputs I looked at the Pass phonostage and it is designed for an unbalanced connection from the turntable. Your LP12 is single-ended. The ground screw on all phonostages is for the ground wire from the TT to prevent noise and hum. There are balanced outp...
Balanced vs. Unbalanced Inputs But on the pass website is the following: "In order to minimize ground loop issues Pass Labs never manufactures equipment with signal ground and chassis ground contiguous."This statement is unrelated to the balanced vs. single-ended (unbalanced) o...
Balanced vs. Unbalanced Inputs This was the response: "No. RCA shield and ground lug are contiguous connections."In an unbalanced (RCA) cable there are only 2 wires, a signal and a ground (which acts as the return signal). The cable has a shield wrapped around the conductor...
Preferred Node 2i and Ayre CDP connections to Soekris 2541 DAC? XLR and coax out on your CDP are analogue. Take a look and see if there is a digital output. If not, then that’s a really old CD player. Only a digital output can feed a Dac. So, you can only run the analogue outputs to a preamp.
Upgraded cords for linear power supplies? What is a Linear Power Supply? ... A linear power supply typically uses a large transformer to drop voltage from an AC line to a much lower AC voltage, and then uses a series of rectifier circuitry and filtering process to produce a very clean DC ...
"True to the Source: Some Thoughts" Good article. The effect from using separate mics in a studio was very well explained. But, I think many audiophiles and especially those who are musicians know that there are always compromises when recording music. With acoustic instruments and g...
Preferred Node 2i and Ayre CDP connections to Soekris 2541 DAC? If your Ayre CDP is an older model definitely try using it as a transport. Also, due to age it may not have AES digital out.Since your DAC has both S/PDIF RCA and BNC, you can use them for Node and CD (with a 75ohm BNC adapter).
Preferred Node 2i and Ayre CDP connections to Soekris 2541 DAC? Node2i has S/PDIF RCA and Toslink out. RCA out sounds best, so you can go RCA to RCA input or RCA to BNC in. You need a 75ohm cable. If your Ayre has AES/EBU out, you can run AES to the DAC.Does your dac have separate RCA and BNC inputs? If so, you...
Upgraded cords for linear power supplies? I can hear a difference between different PC's into a Swagman LPS. Not as significant as aftermarket cables into an audio component.
From Canada to USA - buying used stereo from private sale Agree to go with UPS or FedEx, but be prepared to pay COD for tariff. If there is a tariff on your item make sure to have cash on hand, credit card was a PITA. |
